Historique et évolution du circuit

L’Autodrome de Montlhéry, connu sous le nom deL’autodrome de Linas-Montlhéry, est un circuit emblématique du paysage du sport automobile en France. Retranscription des paroles de la vidéo: [Music] welcome to Paris and in the shadow of the Eiffel Tower some of the super vehicles which will be racing the wrong prehistoric Harry this weekend [Music] you may remember was the feature event [Music] kitchen fan some glorious cars here nineteen nineteen seventies undoubtedly the showpiece the three mattress from the late 60s early 70s they’re the earliest Kupe the mattress 630 the green the colors of re s Karolos helmet the four-time l’amour WA winner one of course the l’amour 24-hour race with Graham Hill in that car number 15 car indeed he was actually owned by Mike night of the French base Winfield racing school two of the other mattress being brought from the South of France where they now reside in a museum aerospace company were heavily into motor racing in the late 60s and early 70s first assistant to the Paris mayor certainly enjoying his ride there on the circuit glorious sound of the v12 engine particular car is fitted with a Kearney Westlake v8 Ford Motor currently the v12 engine was damaged well I didn’t give you here with mr. TUPE or he says really does enjoy these cars well the famous shape of a Porsche 918 Papa and the way of David Piper raced for much of the 60s has been the leading light behind the Super Sport series for cars of this particular era and of course we may well remember drivers like Petra Rodriguez and Jo Siffert racing these nine one seven the classic gt40 these cars will all be racing later this particular gt40 a road-going version I once drove a gt40 on the road it was a tremendous experience one that I shall never forget revered e-type on the same day incidentally thanks to Willie green and the JCB collection well there is the famous Larry banking and these various super sports cars just being demonstrated chatter Raulerson at the wheel of this particular 5 liter version some of the cars had 4.7 liter engines [Music] there’s one of the rather older vehicles and there is a Cooper t53 ymax changing number of different races actually on the program purchased 24 BRM there again the 1959 cooper climax John Harper will race that one in fact to Cooper’s John Cooper also the man behind that souped-up version of the mini this category owned cars between 1935 and 1965 three different classes in fact to cover different age groups 59 to 65 there’s no just twenty fours rearranging cars should be very competitive Chris Alford and recall driving those John Harper in the Cooper Lindsay Owen Jones in a similar t53 gobbles on some of the drivers wearing the latest helmets so there is the front row the grid John Harper and Lindsey Owen Jones Stratton in his kuba the glorious sounds of the late 50s blast off very nice older Tolbert largos t26 es John Harper driving wise very much faster the field John extremely experienced of BSC CFS number eighteen there’s a beautiful coupe of Bristol Graham furrows at the wheel so the two tight 53 Cooper’s type of car that Jack Brabham raced Bruce help of Bruce McLaren raced spotted a Lotus 24 there and the old VRP colors the light green in theory that car should be leading the race more modern design than those Coopers [Music] very nice Ferrari Dino Corrado coupe Pollini from Italy at the wheel 38 Lindsay Owen Jones in his poop of climax by max engine originally developed as a stationary engine for fire pumps and then was with engineer Wally Hassan behind it made into a racy carriage human the chassis is of course a technology far away from current form the one design Lindsay Owen Jones bleeding from John Harper PRA going through the picture Cooper Bristol some of the older cars there’s a two-seater that’s a coupe of climax raced against sports cars on it was a central seater bass player a wide-body version list could apply max you see going through that that was considered to be a sports car although here to make stuff with the fall of our machines 37 is threatening his 351 on Larry used to host around the world sports car champion we back in the 1960s thousand kilometer races around this track [Music] Cooper still leading i spree a fin on that one Basia pace car they’re just pulling off and in the background like a lotus 21 retiring thank you Sylvain the Kramer’s car [Music] Lindsay Richards going under pressure then from John Harper as they pass the slowly driven voters 24 that was the last race frame voters Grand Prix car instead that’s a car that in his Ireland used to race [Music] apply on the banking the to Cooper’s virtually there connect plunge down off the banking into the chicane and look now John Arthur looking for the inside and John Harper takes the lead a good battle between these two cars [Music] rest of the field there’s two extraordinary pan out DB 750s Boys Noize they make the Dion rear ends tiny little engines and there’s a Talbot Largo well to admit to having a dinky of that one [Music] well at the front pretty serious motor race going on but towards the back these guys just having fun Artie 6cm runny Morrie’s at the wheel [Music] so Owen Jones now deciding at second place is always going to achieve this is the last lap Joppa sliding the car out great things in the junkie OD time as well John based just near Silverstone [Music] so the checkered flag awaits John Harper so a Cooper one-two reminiscent of some of the Grand Prix’s of 1959 John Harper wins it second Lindsey Owen Jones third Capelli in the Ferrari Dino [Music] well great fun there for my Mary will be more of that in just a few moments but let’s take a short [Music] cars largely lined up from 69 cars days I was a team manager for one of these cars that’s actually racing here today a March 703 and being beaten as it was in 1970 just 59 in gold leaf colors also in this race France cars raced in that era and a good battle between a techno and the Lotus 59 has driven too many race victories in the 1970 season by Australian David of the Walker Dave Walker as we called him one liter downdraft engines we called him the Screamers they Rev to almost 11,000 revs after every race they came out the chassis is that techno drives down the inside and a very close indeed and indeed the techno takes the lead off shields boy a number twenty one hundred by Michel my year I should say and these two breaking away from the rest of the field very quickly superb scrap and the front so ruinous 1970 out of shape [Music] Chevron’s Technos martinis odd moaning [Music] and the Lotus 59 is in trouble [Music] and Michel my year in the techno well the elect sir Ronnie Peterson car or Rayna Viso car my ring is only used to drive a car like that 1968 number 46 spins off just launched it up under braking Sophia ring no mk4 [Music] and that techno head and shoulders above the rest of the field as he dies back down the banking and receives the checkered flag bTW – but a very good Drive there nice to see these historic former three cars still racing now something completely different Lotus 7s well some of the French drivers of the mid-60s made their name in a very popular Lotus 7 series people like on Rufus Carollo they started in these Lotus Evans and believe it or not we’ve got a historic series in France for these Bernard Parish off from pole position all the super sevens of the period number one Michel for loose losing it Ford engines of course [Music] nineteen of these cars entered for this race I had 16 laps in front of them [Music] factor job in my memory oh very near miss there these cars were run by various regions of the French Automobile Federation to find fastest drivers from the different regions and three of the drivers who came up through the series are already mentioned in roof escarole oh but also Patrick to buy and Jonny’s service cava all later race in Formula one still have led to seven racing in France Caterham 7 seas days and indeed jean-pierre bell tosses son has been very successful in that series last year [Music] number five Irish [Music] checkered flag there for bernhard faroush the winner from george a karate a that was the first leg in fact the race divided into two legs with an aggregate result they said again around the garage deport there into the garage till affirm someone just missing the chicane completely and he continues in the lead but will undoubtedly be penalized for that mistake and number eleven savvier albergue nah spins off [Music] lots of fun out there because to remember these cars were sold in kit form and it really was a very cheap form of excitement on the road to buy one of these cars great idea from the furtive mind of the Lake Colin Chapman people even race them in single seater form taking taking off the wings kinds different Minds there from these amateur drivers [Music] number 20 as a tic-tac you Elaine kneebar he recovers [Music] Bernhard barouche still leading 2008 kneebauer there it has a bit wild that man so the end of the second leg and Bernhard faroush winning on aggregate and also scoring the fastest lap of one forty two point six six that’s undoubted the first historical er to seven race that there’s ever been on screen sport brusett takes off it’s how it [Music] and as you can see he’s delighted with that success mixed up six great small grid for this one Chevron’s roller old elder BMW there’s a Chevron v8 the white coupe a car the leading car and it’s Marcus Hoover Germany on May 21 glorious chevron bah they’re designed by Derek Bennett who was so tragically killed in a hang gliding accident the BMW market locking up under brakes [Music] – nine – nine – I should say shades of the old European 2-liter sports car champion people like Tuan has immense and Arturo Rosario and Brian Redman all raced in this series that was a big revival of these cars in Britain Marcus pie of the AuSable magazine very much at the forefront of that particular revival but into an elbow mark 8 Frank Nicholls design which we see going through the pictures of green car but this is the leading car of fans Marcus Hoover and chase there by Richard Dawkins and his sir chevron v8 most of them came with BMW engines on the inside and Hoover obviously with a problem right at the finish and a victory for Richard Dawkins from Britain second the swiss hands Markus uber and third yan Froy arts in the 32 92 now the super sport series coming up there’s Henry fest Carollo David Piper [Music] really – at the white knight in the wheel [Music] while these cars will be racing in just a few moments it’s the presentation there’s a gt40 a Ferrari for those boys [Music] back then at Mon Larry a mouth-watering lineup of glorious sports cars of the 60s and 70s there’s mic night that’s rare Ford machine designed by Len Bailey mainly British drivers in this category which has been put together by David Piper and coronary pest Barolo they in that mattre here’s a list of the cars taking part three different categories [Music] [Music] line up of equipment that’s one of David 5s Ferraris sir will you tuck it in central London really used to race the Chevron and there’s another glorious car that was actually owned by Roger Penske organization and raced by Mark Donohue in those very Sunoco colors absolutely glorious 5-1 to Ferrari Swiss owner these days doing there on the moon dr. Larry pesco are they being interviewed and saying it’s a very big emotion for him for him driving because mattress re being able to drive the three different cars the 26 50 and 70 so it’s definitely nostalgic you know good motivator well all did I miss about the f650 this car number 15 it’s the only car lamorne out of these three big accident I’ve watched a race on TV I did sub-state drive this model on the turn of France so I know it quite well here it has got actually afford five liter engine because so much wouldn’t release one of their v12 engines a big problem actually tested with an engine like this when the car did race what he shot of the new vertical exhaust this I don’t you know all that we’re asking being in these historic cars means that he’s certain closer to retirement that doesn’t mean I won’t be driving in another 25 years time reminds us that he’ll be racing L’Amour of course in just a few weeks time with the MS 650 know of course he says I’ll be racing right holy Austin and Porsche 962 over to victory here’s David Piper and put the series together what did David have to say the Porsche is lovely is very nice I’ve had the porch I bought in here in 1959 and I’ve had it ever since it’s a good car we’ve just put a new engine in it because unfortunately we had Brian Redman was driving it in Japan and he broke the crankshaft it wasn’t his fault but he rose old age so we’ve got a new engine in it now and it’s very good the first time we visited a piper John hunt Valona t70 on pole position best Corolla really getting to the task in the matter on the front row the great and look at that shunt and well a lot of damage there the number 14 car that is a great shame just you saw the end result of all that Lola t70 quite seriously damaged so they roll up again have another go at the start and this time it’s a clean one and John hunt into an immediate lead with this er T 70 mark 3 B Danny home on a lot of races and a car like that we’re in second place [Music] your chef is Cobra going through John Hunt who is married to the former Janet Brice widow of the robbery driver Tony price of course killed in the airplane accident with they’ll string [Music] but Janet and Tom prices widow cotton planting shop I believe in West London [Music] ngo in Jones down his mouth earlier chasing daily Viper in the midfield owned mattre [Music] I’m bleeding [Music] rest of the field coming through Porsche 908 they’re really being slid around Jean hunts used to Hill Climb but now one of the biggest men in this Super Sport Series mr. ello winner this year of the Daytona 24 hours free aust [Music] you’re really giving it a big go I believe this is the only matter which is in private ownership matter of course one L’Amour breaking a long drought for France give us something in the region of 30 years so the matter for looking extremely good some of the older cars they go with histor so it was a Porsche 908 – it’s a Porsche 910 or so I just look at it more closely car which followed the 908 but I’m Becca from Switzerland he’s had that car for a while [Music] Boreas big Chevy engine they’re pounding away cars probably got in excess of 500 brake horsepower coming through in the [Music] car in each time Great Australian racing driver Frank garnered some fairly strong words to say about it [Music] first David Piper in his 97 [Music] Morris Porsche flat 12 engine of course so coming up to the checkered flag and best burello now dropping back one lap to go escarole Oh with brake problems dropping back [Music] which involved in providing the cars for the famous Steve McQueen L’Amour Phil party crashed very heavily in the filming and factor [Music] sunny doesn’t slide off on the racetrack as you can see here soldiering on [Music] it’s the world in very small aircraft single-handed [Music] so coming to the checkered flag [Music] John hunt [Music] fact not yet the end of the race [Music] watch crowd to see these cars the 50s 60s and 70s super weekend of mana Larry very evocative Leone you see pesco really has slowed up now as Lindsey Owen Jones goes past him in the red Lola t70 designed by Eric broadly I wasn’t an open-top version of this car this car produced for the GT series all the time and enormously successful so John Hunt David Piper Lindsey Owen Jones Andrew Pescarolo drop back to fourth place [Music] Porcia locks up the brakes Becca has great fun with that machine [Music] well naturally building those sports prototypes are also of course racing in Formula One nice Corolla don’t be a bell to us driving for them [Music] [Music] match over subsequent to link up with the Simca organization and the cars were called mattress MCAS for a while [Music] at Number 17 car actually in the colours of team thirties arrow at the front john surtees raced a car like that I’m not sure if it was this particular example [Music] [Music] this race and we’ll tuck it in the p1 Ferrari had an oil seal problem so he dropped out white night in that Ford f3 [Music] yawn he dropped out water itself mixed up Chevron still going well sir Chris Charles from Adi engineering [Music] as Chris flying in six spot radio telling you mixed up with another gentleman Chris sister actually works for Estelle and has been racing that Chevron Becker again [Music] the car [Music] as Lola t70 raced in the late 60s and David Piper they’re attempting to wrest the lead from John hunt [Music] meanwhile the AC code were very different sort of motorcar I’ve got to these two frontrunners another man who did great things in t 70s in insurance races they really weren’t that successful it was the nine one seven like David Piper’s example tended to win those races but in the Year shorter races to clear Britain the T 73 was definitely the car to beat [Music] racing all the way to the checkered flag John hunt just winning from David Piper there’s the result well a splendid race and splendid result let’s talk for the winner John hunt it started off very very tough and I think about halfway through on restarted losing his brakes and then I then I saw David coming up behind me and I thought as long as I can just keep it there it’ll be okay and he you worried me once or twice David ed but otherwise was a good race a good race well Britain’s there on the podium more action for more Larry coming up in just a few moments back then and on Larry the heat Formula One events split into two parts that glorious Ferrari Dino the Malini in the wheel saw these cars earlier this is the second leg of their events the unusual traffic light with red in the middle versus 24 stranded in the middle or remember in part one the Coopers contested the lead and Cooper’s birth to second again [Music] [Music] we are a pre-war machine [Music] Lindsay Jonas 38 having yet another run [Music] mission racing automobiles [Music] Ferrari from mid 50s this car 1959 vintage I’m just going through the picture was a court which looked like one of the Grand Prix streamliners to me I would get another shot of that machine as Chris Alford and started to fling the yeah purchased 24 around that car with a v8 Coventry climax engine while half liters Jim Clark raced a car like that we said earlier this was the last of the space frame the next model the 25 was the innovative monocoque er a way through John Harper John chased by Lyndsay Jones and Linda Jones appearing to have problems there and he falls off so John Harper’s big rival from the early race a yellow flag waved 3/4 in second place chased by the Ferrari ambergris Alford here’s the other Lotus 24 going down the inside of the Talbot logo which goes absolutely straight on remember that cars probably worth hundreds of thousands of pounds [Music] so what I see the back of the car levántense about is 18 that was the Formula one model before the one you see in the picture now that loads of 24 John Harper having problems our picks up again and those two extraordinary pan arts right Gorsky the four wonderful machines [Music] Ferrari sweeps down off the banking again now the Ferrari in front of Jerry Porter author outbreaks him to of course in [Music] was really the first of the rear-engine Formula one cars of the late fifties [Music] remembering of course that Auto Union had engines in the rear pre-war to front-engined and really throwing the car and just managing to collect it Jerry Mulder Jerry’s a London car trader backing the [Music] and terrific Surat between these two [Music] keeping a watching brief number two an arts well they’ve been lapped a couple of times drawing the exhaust pipe seems to come out of the front of the car as that Ferrari Dino that has the highest price tag of any car racing in this meeting and yet again John Harper water still leaking his Cooper around slightly older Cooper model that one that’s a 1957 version [Music] why ragin sorry first to the famous of Brooklyn’s banking here the cars on the mana Larry banking [Music] listen to that Ferrari sounds absolutely gorgeous though the checkered flag and the Ferrari goes through technologies the chairs the ground overall the result John Harper who Fellini second quarter third Alford fourth or fifth and John you are doing a good job finishing sixth in the ER a unwitting class a well that’s it from Larry also having a bit of fun so from our subscreen sport its goodbye [Music] the one feature film .

0 then from John Harper
0 as they pass the slowly driven voters 24
0 that was the last race frame voters
0 Grand Prix car instead
0 that&;s a car that in his Ireland used to
0 race
0 [Music]
0 apply on the banking the to Cooper&;s
0 virtually there connect plunge down off
0 the banking into the chicane and look
0 now John Arthur looking for the inside
0 and John Harper takes the lead a good
0 battle between these two cars
0 [Music]
0 rest of the field there&;s two
0 extraordinary pan out DB 750s Boys Noize
0 they make the Dion rear ends tiny little
0 engines and there&;s a Talbot Largo well
0 to admit to having a dinky of that one
0 [Music]
0 well at the front pretty serious motor
0 race going on but towards the back these
0 guys just having fun
0 Artie 6cm runny Morrie&;s at the wheel
0 [Music]
0 so Owen Jones now deciding at second
0 place is always going to achieve
0 this is the last lap Joppa
0 sliding the car out
0 great things in the junkie OD time as
0 well
0 John based just near Silverstone
0 [Music]
0 so the checkered flag awaits John Harper
0 so a Cooper one-two reminiscent of some
0 of the Grand Prix&;s of 1959 John Harper
0 wins it
0 second Lindsey Owen Jones third Capelli
0 in the Ferrari Dino
0 [Music]
0 well great fun there for my Mary will be
0 more of that in just a few moments but
0 let&;s take a short
0 [Music]
0 cars largely lined up from 69 cars
0 days I was a team manager for one of
0 these cars that&;s actually racing here
0 today a March 703 and being beaten as it
0 was in 1970 just 59 in gold leaf colors
0 also in this race France cars raced in
0 that era and a good battle between a
0 techno and the Lotus 59 has driven too
0 many race victories in the 1970 season
0 by Australian David of the Walker Dave
0 Walker as we called him one liter
0 downdraft engines we called him the
0 Screamers they Rev to almost 11,000 revs
0 after every race they came out the
0 chassis is that techno drives down the
0 inside and a very close indeed
0 and indeed the techno takes the lead off
0 shields boy a number twenty one hundred
0 by Michel my year I should say and these
0 two breaking away from the rest of the
0 field very quickly
0 superb scrap and the front so ruinous
0 1970 out of shape
0 [Music]
0 Chevron&;s Technos martinis odd moaning
0 [Music]
0 and the Lotus 59 is in trouble
0 [Music]
0 and Michel my year in the techno well
0 the elect sir Ronnie Peterson car or
0 Rayna Viso car
0 my ring is only used to drive a car like
0 that 1968
0 number 46 spins off just launched it up
0 under braking
0 Sophia ring no mk4
0 [Music]
0 and that techno head and shoulders above
0 the rest of the field as he dies back
0 down the banking and receives the
0 checkered flag bTW – but a very good
0 Drive there nice to see these historic
0 former three cars still racing now
0 something completely different
0 Lotus 7s well some of the French drivers
0 of the mid-60s made their name in a very
0 popular Lotus 7 series people like on
0 Rufus Carollo they started in these
0 Lotus Evans and believe it or not we&;ve
0 got a historic series in France for
0 these Bernard Parish off from pole
0 position
0 all the super sevens of the period
0 number one Michel for loose losing it
0 Ford engines of course
0 [Music]
0 nineteen of these cars entered for this
0 race I had 16 laps in front of them
0 [Music]
0 factor job in my memory oh very near
0 miss there these cars were run by
0 various regions of the French Automobile
0 Federation to find fastest drivers from
0 the different regions and three of the
0 drivers who came up through the series
0 are already mentioned in roof escarole
0 oh but also Patrick to buy and Jonny&;s
0 service cava all later race in Formula
0 one still have led to seven racing in
0 France Caterham 7 seas days and indeed
0 jean-pierre bell tosses son has been
0 very successful in that series last year
0 [Music]
0 number five Irish
0 [Music]
0 checkered flag there for bernhard
0 faroush the winner from george a karate
0 a that was the first leg in fact the
0 race divided into two legs with an
0 aggregate result they said again around
0 the garage deport there into the garage
0 till affirm someone just missing the
0 chicane completely and he continues in
0 the lead but will undoubtedly be
0 penalized for that mistake
0 and number eleven savvier albergue nah
0 spins off
0 [Music]
0 lots of fun out there because to
0 remember these cars were sold in kit
0 form and it really was a very cheap form
0 of excitement on the road to buy one of
0 these cars great idea from the furtive
0 mind of the Lake Colin Chapman people
0 even race them in single seater form
0 taking taking off the wings kinds
0 different Minds there from these amateur
0 drivers
0 [Music]
0 number 20 as a tic-tac you Elaine
0 kneebar he recovers
0 [Music]
0 Bernhard barouche still leading 2008
0 kneebauer there it has a bit wild that
0 man so the end of the second leg and
0 Bernhard faroush winning on aggregate
0 and also scoring the fastest lap of one
0 forty two point six six
0 that&;s undoubted the first historical er
0 to seven race that there&;s ever been on
0 screen sport brusett takes off it&;s how
0 it
0 [Music]
0 and as you can see he&;s delighted with
0 that success mixed up six great small
0 grid for this one
0 Chevron&;s roller old elder BMW there&;s a
0 Chevron v8 the white coupe a car the
0 leading car and it&;s Marcus Hoover
0 Germany on May 21
0 glorious chevron bah they&;re designed by
0 Derek Bennett who was so tragically
0 killed in a hang gliding accident
0 the BMW market locking up under brakes
0 [Music]
0 – nine – nine – I should say shades of
0 the old European 2-liter sports car
0 champion people like Tuan has immense
0 and Arturo Rosario and Brian Redman all
0 raced in this series that was a big
0 revival of these cars in Britain
0 Marcus pie of the AuSable magazine very
0 much at the forefront of that particular
0 revival but into an elbow mark 8 Frank
0 Nicholls design which we see going
0 through the pictures of green car but
0 this is the leading car of fans Marcus
0 Hoover and chase there by Richard
0 Dawkins and his sir chevron v8 most of
0 them came with BMW engines on the inside
0 and Hoover obviously with a problem
0 right at the finish and a victory for
0 Richard Dawkins from Britain second the
0 swiss hands Markus uber and third yan
0 Froy arts in the 32 92 now the super
0 sport series coming up there&;s Henry
0 fest Carollo David Piper
0 [Music]
0 really – at the white knight in the
0 wheel
0 [Music]
0 while these cars will be racing in just
0 a few moments it&;s the presentation
0 there&;s a gt40 a Ferrari for those boys
0 [Music]
0 back then at Mon Larry a mouth-watering
0 lineup of glorious sports cars of the
0 60s and 70s there&;s mic night
0 that&;s rare Ford
0 machine designed by Len Bailey mainly
0 British drivers in this category which
0 has been put together by David Piper and
0 coronary pest Barolo they in that mattre
0 here&;s a list of the cars taking part
0 three different categories
0 [Music]
0 [Music]
0 line up of equipment that&;s one of David
0 5s Ferraris sir will you tuck it in
0 central London really used to race the
0 Chevron and there&;s another glorious car
0 that was actually owned by Roger Penske
0 organization and raced by Mark Donohue
0 in those very Sunoco colors absolutely
0 glorious 5-1 to Ferrari
0 Swiss owner these days doing there on
0 the moon dr. Larry pesco are they being
0 interviewed and saying it&;s a very big
0 emotion for him for him driving because
0 mattress re being able to drive the
0 three different cars the 26 50 and 70 so
0 it&;s definitely nostalgic you know good
0 motivator well all did I miss about the
0 f650 this car number 15 it&;s the only
0 car lamorne out of these three big
0 accident I&;ve watched a race on TV I did
0 sub-state drive this model on the turn
0 of France so I know it quite well here
0 it has got actually afford five liter
0 engine because so much wouldn&;t release
0 one of their v12 engines a big problem
0 actually tested with an engine like this
0 when the car did race what he shot of
0 the new vertical exhaust this I don&;t
0 you know all that we&;re asking being in
0 these historic cars means that he&;s
0 certain closer to retirement that
0 doesn&;t mean I won&;t be driving in
0 another 25 years time reminds us that
0 he&;ll be racing L&;Amour of course in
0 just a few weeks time with the MS 650
0 know of course he says I&;ll be racing
0 right holy Austin and Porsche 962
0 over to victory here&;s David Piper and
0 put the series together what did David
0 have to say the Porsche is lovely is
0 very nice I&;ve had the porch I bought in
0 here in 1959 and I&;ve had it ever since
0 it&;s a good car we&;ve just put a new
0 engine in it because unfortunately we
0 had Brian Redman was driving it in Japan
0 and he broke the crankshaft it wasn&;t
0 his fault
0 but he rose old age so we&;ve got a new
0 engine in it now and it&;s very good the
0 first time we visited a piper John hunt
0 Valona t70 on pole position best Corolla
0 really getting to the task in the matter
0 on the front row the great
0 and look at that shunt and well a lot of
0 damage there the number 14 car that is a
0 great shame just you saw the end result
0 of all that
0 Lola t70 quite seriously damaged so they
0 roll up again have another go at the
0 start
0 and this time it&;s a clean one and John
0 hunt into an immediate lead with this er
0 T 70 mark 3 B Danny home on a lot of
0 races and a car like that we&;re in
0 second place
0 [Music]
0 your chef is Cobra going through John
0 Hunt who is married to the former Janet
0 Brice widow of the robbery driver Tony
0 price of course killed in the airplane
0 accident with
0 they&;ll string
0 [Music]
0 but Janet and Tom prices widow cotton
0 planting shop I believe in West London
0 [Music]
0 ngo in Jones down his mouth earlier
0 chasing daily Viper in the midfield
0 owned mattre
0 [Music]
0 I&;m bleeding
0 [Music]
0 rest of the field coming through
0 Porsche 908 they&;re really being slid
0 around Jean hunts used to Hill Climb but
0 now one of the biggest men in this Super
0 Sport Series
0 mr. ello winner this year of the Daytona
0 24 hours free aust
0 [Music]
0 you&;re really giving it a big go I
0 believe this is the only matter which is
0 in private ownership matter of course
0 one L&;Amour breaking a long drought for
0 France give us something in the region
0 of 30 years
0 so the matter for looking extremely good
0 some of the older cars they go with
0 histor so it was a Porsche 908 – it&;s a
0 Porsche 910 or so I just look at it more
0 closely car which followed the 908 but
0 I&;m Becca from Switzerland he&;s had that
0 car for a while
0 [Music]
0 Boreas big Chevy engine they&;re pounding
0 away cars probably got in excess of 500
0 brake horsepower coming through in the
0 [Music]
0 car in each time Great Australian racing
0 driver Frank garnered some fairly strong
0 words to say about it
0 [Music]
0 first David Piper in his 97
0 [Music]
0 Morris Porsche flat 12 engine of course
0 so coming up to the checkered flag and
0 best burello now dropping back one lap
0 to go
0 escarole Oh with brake problems dropping
0 back
0 [Music]
0 which involved in providing the cars for
0 the famous Steve McQueen L&;Amour Phil
0 party crashed very heavily
0 in the filming and factor
0 [Music]
0 sunny doesn&;t slide off on the racetrack
0 as you can see here soldiering on
0 [Music]
0 it&;s
0 the world in very small aircraft
0 single-handed
0 [Music]
0 so coming to the checkered flag
0 [Music]
0 John hunt
0 [Music]
0 fact not yet the end of the race
0 [Music]
0 watch crowd to see these cars the 50s
0 60s and 70s super weekend of mana Larry
0 very evocative Leone you see pesco
0 really has slowed up now as Lindsey Owen
0 Jones goes past him in the red Lola t70
0 designed by Eric broadly I wasn&;t an
0 open-top version of this car this car
0 produced for the GT series all the time
0 and enormously successful so John Hunt
0 David Piper
0 Lindsey Owen Jones Andrew Pescarolo drop
0 back to fourth place
0 [Music]
0 Porcia locks up the brakes
0 Becca has great fun with that machine
0 [Music]
0 well naturally building those sports
0 prototypes are also of course racing in
0 Formula One
0 nice Corolla don&;t be a bell to us
0 driving for them
0 [Music]
0 [Music]
0 match over subsequent to link up with
0 the Simca organization and the cars were
0 called mattress MCAS for a while
0 [Music]
0 at Number 17 car actually in the colours
0 of team thirties arrow at the front john
0 surtees raced a car like that I&;m not
0 sure if it was this particular example
0 [Music]
0 [Music]
0 this race and we&;ll tuck it in the p1
0 Ferrari had an oil seal problem so he
0 dropped out white night in that Ford f3
0 [Music]
0 yawn he dropped out
0 water itself mixed up Chevron still
0 going well sir Chris Charles from Adi
0 engineering
0 [Music]
0 as Chris flying in six spot radio
0 telling you mixed up with another
0 gentleman Chris sister actually works
0 for Estelle and has been racing that
0 Chevron Becker again
0 [Music]
0 the car
0 [Music]
0 as Lola t70 raced in the late 60s
0 and David Piper they&;re attempting to
0 wrest the lead from John hunt
0 [Music]
0 meanwhile the AC code were very
0 different sort of motorcar I&;ve got to
0 these two frontrunners
0 another man who did great things in t
0 70s in insurance races they really
0 weren&;t that successful it was the nine
0 one seven like David Piper&;s example
0 tended to win those races but in the
0 Year shorter races to clear Britain the
0 T 73 was definitely the car to beat
0 [Music]
0 racing all the way to the checkered flag
0 John hunt just winning from David Piper
0 there&;s the result well a splendid race
0 and splendid result let&;s talk for the
0 winner John hunt
0 it started off very very tough and I
0 think about halfway through on restarted
0 losing his brakes and then I then I saw
0 David coming up behind me and I thought
0 as long as I can just keep it there
0 it&;ll be okay and he you worried me once
0 or twice David ed but otherwise was a
0 good race a good race well Britain&;s
0 there on the podium more action for more
0 Larry coming up in just a few moments
0 back then and on Larry the heat Formula
0 One events split into two parts
0 that glorious Ferrari Dino the Malini in
0 the wheel
0 saw these cars earlier this is the
0 second leg of their events the unusual
0 traffic light with red in the middle
0 versus 24 stranded in the middle or
0 remember in part one
0 the Coopers contested the lead and
0 Cooper&;s birth to second again
0 [Music]
0 [Music]
0 we are a pre-war machine
0 [Music]
0 Lindsay Jonas 38 having yet another run
0 [Music]
0 mission racing automobiles
0 [Music]
0 Ferrari from mid 50s this car 1959
0 vintage
0 I&;m just going through the picture was a
0 court which looked like one of the Grand
0 Prix streamliners to me I would get
0 another shot of that machine as Chris
0 Alford and started to fling the yeah
0 purchased 24 around that car with a v8
0 Coventry climax engine while half liters
0 Jim Clark raced a car like that we said
0 earlier this was the last of the space
0 frame
0 the next model the 25 was the innovative
0 monocoque er a way through John Harper
0 John chased by
0 Lyndsay Jones and Linda Jones appearing
0 to have problems there and he falls off
0 so John Harper&;s big rival from
0 the early race
0 a yellow flag waved 3/4 in second place
0 chased by the Ferrari ambergris Alford
0 here&;s the other Lotus 24 going down the
0 inside of the Talbot logo which goes
0 absolutely straight on remember that
0 cars probably worth hundreds of
0 thousands of pounds
0 [Music]
0 so what I see the back of the car
0 levántense about is 18 that was the
0 Formula one model before the one you see
0 in the picture now that loads of 24
0 John Harper having problems our picks up
0 again and those two extraordinary pan
0 arts right Gorsky the four wonderful
0 machines
0 [Music]
0 Ferrari sweeps down off the banking
0 again
0 now the Ferrari in front of Jerry Porter
0 author outbreaks him to of course in
0 [Music]
0 was really the first of the rear-engine
0 Formula one cars of the late fifties
0 [Music]
0 remembering of course that Auto Union
0 had engines in the rear
0 pre-war to front-engined and really
0 throwing the car and just managing to
0 collect it
0 Jerry Mulder
0 Jerry&;s a London car trader backing the
0 [Music]
0 and terrific Surat between these two
0 [Music]
0 keeping a watching brief number two an
0 arts well they&;ve been lapped a couple
0 of times
0 drawing the exhaust pipe seems to come
0 out of the front of the car as that
0 Ferrari Dino
0 that has the highest price tag of any
0 car racing in this meeting and yet again
0 John Harper water still leaking his
0 Cooper around slightly older Cooper
0 model that one that&;s a 1957 version
0 [Music]
0 why ragin sorry first to the famous of
0 Brooklyn&;s banking here the cars on the
0 mana Larry banking
0 [Music]
0 listen to that Ferrari sounds absolutely
0 gorgeous
0 though the checkered flag
0 and the Ferrari goes through
0 technologies the chairs the ground
0 overall the result John Harper who
0 Fellini second quarter third Alford
0 fourth or fifth and John you are doing a
0 good job finishing sixth in the ER a
0 unwitting class a well that&;s it from
0 Larry also having a bit of fun so from
0 our subscreen sport its goodbye
0 [Music]
0 the one feature film
