Part 2 – The Bugatti Collection), et les observations mentionnées par l’auteur :« We return to the Mullin automobile collection to see the Bugatti collection. Is the auto collection of Peter Mullin the world’s best car collection? Take a look and comment. Mullin collects multi million dollar french Art Deco automobiles and other deco Objets d’art.

Part of Mullin’s collection includes the Schlumph Reserve Collection. The Schlumph brothers started collecting cars in the 1960’s to build what they hoped would be the worlds greatest automobile museum, the Cité de l’Automobile in Mulhouse, France. The primary focus of the Schlumpf brothers was Bugatti. The venture went bankrupt before it ever opened, but was opened later by the French government who opted to sell off a collection of the Schlumpf original condition unrestored Bugattis which were bought by Peter Mullen and are housed here in the Oxnard Museum.

An other interesting Bugatti here is a type 57 SC Atlantic, one of only 2 that survive. An automotive masterpiece Mullin paid 44 million for this one car alone making it the most expensive car in the world.

Also on display is a custom built, vintage 1925 Bugatti Type 22 Brescia Roadster which sat at the bottom of Lake Maggiore on the border of Switzerland and Italy near the country of France. Mullin paid US$360,000 for the car in this condition … and it will not be restored.

While many collections may vie for the title « Worlds Best Private Car Collection » the Mullin may well be that collection. However, the Nethercutt collection just a few miles from there, the Miller collection in Colorado and other collections vie for that honor as well. It sort of depends on what cars you like. But in terms of « value », the Mullin may well the most expensive with many multi million dollar cars including the world’s most expensive car.

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia:

The Mullin Automotive Museum is a privately owned automobile museum in Oxnard, California, US. Established in 2010, it displays the personal car collection of businessman and philanthropist Peter W. Mullin. The museum has a large collection of vintage Bugattis, and many of the cars are fully restored and able to be driven.

The museum is housed in the building formerly occupied by the Chandler Vintage Museum of Transportation and Wildlife. The 50,000 sq ft (4,600 m2) building was remodeled to be more energy efficient by American architect David Randall Hertz, making use of solar panels and reflective roofing to reduce heat, yet incorporating elements that retain the Art Deco style and motifs in order to match the era of the cars, many of which were made by French manufacturers in the 1920s and 1930s

Retranscription des paroles de la vidéo: when we’re back at the Mullen collection Peter Mullins private collection this time at the Mullen is that it is anyway you see people around in their ball was anyway we’re back at the Mullen gallery it he doesn’t collect bull balls so that wasn’t anyway we’re back at Peter’s place to look at the rest of his collection of Bugattis yes at the Museum building not the gallery or his office or his home but the museum they build in the second location of anyway this massive collection just possibly the world’s finest collection of automobiles Wow back to the Mullen Museum in Oxnard California check it out so we’re back at Peter Mullins museum in Oxon oh boy you know he’s got four of these places and we just found out he’s building a fifth in London these always expanding car collections just do that remember this one this is the delahaye 165 this is one of my favorite cars in the collection mine too so beautiful started in 1939 but just finished a couple of years ago it got caught up in this thing called World War two but what a beautiful beautiful car of course Peter only collects these French cars French Art Deco oh they’re nice a look at the lines on how beautiful they are oh just the Art Deco movement was just incredible these are hispana suisa and a collection might have one of them he has several I don’t even know how counting after like half a dozen it just and west’s on this is Avion Buisson he also collects Avion Poisson and probably has the definitive collection of West’s ons this is the very first voice on ever built now of course we covered all of this stuff in the previous show and so if you’d like some depth on all of these cars you can watch that show I’m putting the link up right now [Music] and of course the race cars are up on the second floor he collects race cars again only French from a particular era but he’s got an entire room full of very very famous French race cars up here this is another Hispaniola again he’s got so many of these no kidding and here again delahaye he’s got two Delahaye race cars and I didn’t even know they’d ever built race cars and there’s two of them in the same room at any rate what Peter’s better known for is collecting Bugattis this is an interesting car this is an EB 110 from the 1990s now Bugatti went out of business after editorial Gaudi died in the 1950s but there’s been an attempt to rejuvenate the company and as we know it’s back now building the fastest and most desirable supercars in the world des Bugatti Sheeran and Veyron now this is the mullen gallery in the Petersen Automotive Museum in downtown Los Angeles another one of his locations and when we were there remember there was a Bugatti show going on no kidding and almost all of the Bugattis in the room were Peters he moves his cars around constantly yes and so if you wanted to see his whole collection well you’d have to just visit over and over because they’re the the entire collection won’t fit in any one room at any one time [Music] the Bugatti motor car company was founded by editorial Gotti in nineteen nine and they started building very one-off handmade cars before that the family was best known for building furniture and jewelry oh very nice so it been a long long history of the Bugatti family but these cars became the playthings of the rich and famous this is a Bugatti racecar but a lot of the race cars were used as drivers by the the rich and famous around Paris who might even buy one for their child but they were all street-legal now this one is Peter Mullins best known boasts the most infamous car the 57 C atlantique look at that talk about jewelry Oh kidding and he paid 44 million Hey just for this one car making it the most expensive automobile purchase ever oh man at least so far incredible now as we were saying the Bugattis were well-known as furniture and jewelry makers before starting to make automobiles this is later furniture it was all built by editorials but they went right on building furniture and what interesting wonderful wonderful furniture these doors were built they were designed by editorial for one of the offices they don’t they don’t provide a lot of privacy oh wow how beautiful there’s a lot of sculpture around the room here by one of editorial Bugatti and all of these little bronze statues around are all by him he would make the originals in clay several of those originals are here in the room as well and then he would pull perhaps 12 bronzes off of that and here they all hurt I love the cats oh what a beautiful and priceless art – and just example after example here in the room [Music] now there are other examples of art-deco here in the museum that were not made by the bugatti family but peter mullan has collected lots of art deco and he’s commissioned ceramics made of a lot of his cars so those are present in this gallery along with several 1/8 scale models of his cars that he commissioned [Music] so in the racecar gallery there are a lot of Bugattis bugatti is probably the most successful maker of race cars certainly as successful as ferrari and in the 1920s and into the 1930s by far and away the most successful race cars ever built to this day i think they still have more Grom Prix wins than any other manufacturer in spite of the fact they’ve been out of business since the 1950s this is a type 35 see the 35 was the legendary legendary Bugatti so many of these built and saw many wins in Grand Prix with these cars in order to save weight they actually built these bodies out of magnesium Oh serious which is flammable yeah so that was rather dangerous and a few of these cars went up in a blaze of glory because the metal itself would burn this is a type 23 Bugatti and it’s sometimes heralded as the world’s first sports car they’re kind of like the race cars but designed for street use and Bugatti was just legendary for building the finest luxury cars if you were royalty you really wanted to be seen in a bugatti limousine in fact they were working on a design the Bugatti Royale you would it was required that you be royalty in order to purchase one I think they only built seven of them but several of the cars in Peters collection were actually owned by royalty they do have a very distinctive DNA – you look at these and just recognize them as Bugattis it’s just beautiful [Music] now this is really interesting the schlump brothers of mulhouse France started buying up all kinds of French cars with the idea of building the ultimate museum there in Mulhouse they bought a lot of Bugattis unrestored and their plan was to restore all of them but just before they opened the museum they went broke Oh No and not because they were buying up all the cars but the textile industry that they were in just sort of collapsed and took them right along with it and so the French government seized control of the entire collection they did open the museum and if we find ourselves in that part of the world I really want to see this collection that would be something to see why yes but at some point they decided to sell off a bunch of the reserve the unrestored cars and Peter bought them and brought them here now Peter is not too keen on the idea of restoring any of these cars he likes them just like they are they’re more of a historic artifact that way and it is really interesting to see them with their original paint and in their original condition even though well let’s just say they’re a bit rough it sort of lets you know what you’re up against when you want to restore something yeah I’m sure a lot of the restored cars were in this kind of condition when they were acquired I’m sure but I really like seeing them in this condition there’s just something fascinating about seeing them in their barn fresh state you might say and if only they could talk oh man can you imagine and this is really fascinating oh my goodness this car was won in a poker game in Geneva Switzerland many years ago and the new owner couldn’t afford to pay the taxes on it and it was seized by the customs department and they said if he couldn’t pay the taxes they were going to destroy the car and he couldn’t get the money together so they threw it in like Geneva well there you go there you go now there was a plan to sneak it out so the guys who threw it in the lake hooked it chained to it so they could come back by the dark of the moon and rescue the thing and take it home but when they pulled up the chain there was no car who’d do it the chain had broken oh dear but Peter knew of the car and divers went down and they found it and Peter paid to have it brought up and brought here to the museum and put it on display so not just a fascinating display but what an incredible story speaking of fascinating stories this car was in the Bugatti Factory when it was bombed during World War two and Peter was able to acquire the pieces of the chassis and put the chassis together and then he turned to the chassis over to art students at the Art Center to design and build a modern coachwork and it is gorgeous stunning well certainly you can see why we’re making the argument this is one of the finest privately owned car collections in the world look at all of the awards that these cars have won at various concours and that sort of thing and there’s so much more than cars there’s artwork paintings sculptures and furniture I was just amazing well those worth of Bugattis and it’s hard to it’s hard to not say well the Atlantique is probably the most famous the most famous of is we got you 44 million dollars for a single car of courses for yeah but I think one of my favorites is the one that they fished out of Lake Geneva and I just like the way they’ve got it in the gallery there so that you just go in there and you feel like you’re underwater or at the car that they’ve just lifted that incredible Bugatti out of that Lake a story preserved it it just need new Peter Mullins collection Wow you could easily make the argument that that’s the best private collection of wheels in the world again you could argue it every which one you pick certainly one of if not the finest collection of automobiles on the planet right we’re leaving out any they’re distant galaxies who knows that’s right Darth Vader might have incredible IQ but we digress we digress well if you haven’t been over to the channel do pop on over to the channel and if you’re not a subscriber do subscribe and the easy way to get over to the channel and binge watch and screw around for days on end because there’s 300 you almost 350 shows over there right now yeah the easy way to get over there and become a subscriber is to click on the infamous blue button you’re ready for it right there blue buttons subscribe but while we’re not sure how you found this movie on the internet we hope you didn’t find it boring and we will see you here again in a few days with some more significant high ends .

4.549 now this is really interesting
4.549 the schlump brothers of mulhouse France
4.549 started buying up all kinds of French
4.549 cars with the idea of building the
4.549 ultimate museum there in Mulhouse they
4.549 bought a lot of Bugattis unrestored and

4.549 did open the museum and if we find
4.549 ourselves in that part of the world I
4.549 really want to see this collection that
4.549 would be something to see why yes but at
4.549 some point they decided to sell off a
4.549 bunch of the reserve the unrestored cars
4.549 and Peter bought them and brought them
4.549 here now Peter is not too keen on the
4.549 idea of restoring any of these cars he
4.549 likes them just like they are they&;re
4.549 more of a historic artifact that way and
4.549 it is really interesting to see them
4.549 with their original paint and in their
4.549 original condition
4.549 even though well let&;s just say they&;re
4.549 a bit rough it sort of lets you know
4.549 what you&;re up against when you want to
4.549 restore something
4.549 yeah I&;m sure a lot of the restored cars
4.549 were in this kind of condition when they
4.549 were acquired I&;m sure but I really like
4.549 seeing them in this condition there&;s
4.549 just something fascinating about seeing
4.549 them in their barn fresh state you might
4.549 say and if only they could talk oh man
4.549 can you imagine
4.549 and this is really fascinating oh my
4.549 goodness this car was won in a poker
4.549 game in Geneva Switzerland many years
4.549 ago and the new owner couldn&;t afford to
4.549 pay the taxes on it and it was seized by
4.549 the customs department and they said if
4.549 he couldn&;t pay the taxes they were
4.549 going to destroy the car and he couldn&;t
4.549 get the money together so they threw it
4.549 in like Geneva well there you go there
4.549 you go now there was a plan to sneak it
4.549 out so the guys who threw it in the lake
4.549 hooked it chained to it so they could
4.549 come back by the dark of the moon and
4.549 rescue the thing and take it home but
4.549 when they pulled up the chain there was
4.549 no car who&;d do it the chain had broken
4.549 oh dear
4.549 but Peter knew of the car and divers
4.549 went down and they found it and Peter
4.549 paid to have it brought up and brought
4.549 here to the museum and put it on display
4.549 so not just a fascinating display but
4.549 what an incredible story
4.549 speaking of fascinating stories this car
4.549 was in the Bugatti Factory when it was
4.549 bombed during World War two
4.549 and Peter was able to acquire the pieces
4.549 of the chassis and put the chassis
4.549 together and then he turned to the
4.549 chassis over to art students at the Art
4.549 Center to design and build a modern
4.549 coachwork and it is gorgeous stunning
4.549 well certainly you can see why we&;re
4.549 making the argument this is one of the
4.549 finest privately owned car collections
4.549 in the world look at all of the awards
4.549 that these cars have won at various
4.549 concours and that sort of thing and
4.549 there&;s so much more than cars there&;s
4.549 artwork paintings sculptures and
4.549 furniture I was just amazing well those
4.549 worth of Bugattis and it&;s hard to it&;s
4.549 hard to not say well the Atlantique is
4.549 probably the most famous the most famous
4.549 of is we got you 44 million dollars for
4.549 a single car of courses for yeah but I
4.549 think one of my favorites is the one
4.549 that they fished out of Lake Geneva and
4.549 I just like the way they&;ve got it in
4.549 the gallery there so that you just go in
4.549 there and you feel like you&;re
4.549 underwater or at the car that they&;ve
4.549 just lifted that incredible Bugatti out
4.549 of that Lake a story preserved it it
4.549 just need new Peter Mullins collection
4.549 Wow you could easily make the argument
4.549 that that&;s the best private collection
4.549 of wheels in the world again you could
4.549 argue it every which one you pick
4.549 certainly one of if not the finest
4.549 collection of automobiles on the planet
4.549 right we&;re leaving out any
4.549 they&;re distant galaxies who knows
4.549 that&;s right
4.549 Darth Vader might have incredible IQ but
4.549 we digress we digress well if you
4.549 haven&;t been over to the channel do pop
4.549 on over to the channel and if you&;re not
4.549 a subscriber do subscribe and the easy
4.549 way to get over to the channel and binge
4.549 watch and screw around for days on end
4.549 because there&;s 300 you almost 350 shows
4.549 over there right now
4.549 yeah the easy way to get over there and
4.549 become a subscriber is to click on the
4.549 infamous blue button you&;re ready for it
4.549 right there blue buttons subscribe but
4.549 while we&;re not sure how you found this
4.549 movie on the internet we hope you didn&;t
4.549 find it boring and we will see you here
