Ben Horton graciously led viewers through their stand, showcasing an impressive array of motoring books and car memorabilia. Highlights included a rare Jaguar celebration menu from a 1953 Le Mans dinner, autographed by that year’s victorious drivers, as well as coveted editions of Autocourse from pivotal years like 1964, when John Surtees clinched victory with Ferrari.

Their collection boasted signed works from iconic figures such as Bobby Alison, Jack Brabham, and Mike Hawthorn, alongside captivating artwork by Dexter Brown showcasing his works of Steve McQueen and Giorgio Piola’s drawing of a John Player Special Lotus 72 from 1973. Ben engaged in enlightening conversations throughout the event, including an interview with Xander Heijnen, who shared insights from his time with Mercedes and experiences with Lewis Hamilton and Nico Rosberg during their Karting Days. Later, Automotive Author John Nikas shed light on his latest masterpiece, ‘Nashe-Healey: A Grand Alliance,’ while reflecting on the significance of the Goodwood Members Meeting.

Venturing trackside, attendees reveled in the spectacle of Can Am cars and historic racing machines, including Gerhard Berger’s iconic 1989 Ferrari 640 F1 Car after it screamed around the Goodwood Circuit. Egon Zweimüller, a former owner, shared poignant memories of the car’s history, highlighting its connection to Enzo Ferrari’s legacy followed by a surprise appearance by Stefan Johansson.

The Goodwood 81st Members Meeting held personal significance for Ben’s son, Dexter, who fulfilled a lifelong dream by sitting in a Ferrari Formula One Car. As the event drew to a close, Tim Hain’s interview provided a fitting conclusion, offering insights into his close bond with Sir Stirling Moss and the creation of his captivating photographic journey, ‘Sir Stirling Moss Lap of Honour.’

The 81st Goodwood Members Meeting left an indelible mark on Horton’s Books , celebrating the passion and heritage of automotive culture in grand style. ».

Retranscription des paroles de la vidéo: [Music] [Music] ah [Music] [Music] la n [Music] [Music] [Music] welcome to the hon Channel today we’re coming from the 81st members meeting at Goodwood why didn’t you come and have a look around the stand so the best things that I have for sale this meeting is actually this menu here which is a Jaguar celebration menu uh for a dinner in 1953 this is the original menu signed by the winners of Lamar that year Hamilton and Ralts also signed by William Lions Norman Jewish and lofty England that’s probably the the best thing I have on the stand this event uh we also have our normal selection of uh out of print books including uh some highlights we’ve just found some NOS copies of this Porsche Carrera book which has been out of print some time um and it’s difficult to find these are brand new copies in original shrink wrap we also have uh one of the rarest Auto courses which is uh Auto course 1964 which was the year that John C one with Ferrari and interestingly enough uh at the Bonham’s auction they have a lot of his items for sale uh during this uh members meet event so I’m going to head over there later on to see if I can buy anything in the auction uh here’s our other selection of Auto course so we have from 51 to 55 in original bindings and original covers on 612 623 34 45 is the 30’s year 56 67 so we have a really good selection of Auto course at the moment we also have which is pretty hard to find a full set of uh what started off as World rallying went into rothman’s rallying and then into uh P pelli World rallying um and that is you know not a an easy thing to put together but it’s uh really nice addition to the stand if we make our way down here we have uh another rare book and highly desirable book which is 10 days in Sicily uh which is uh the uh Brian Joslin book on um the tarer Florio it came out some years ago 10 to 15 years ago and sold out very very quickly these are actually new copies also in original shrink rat and then we have our signed uh section which is all books signed by either personalities or the authors so we have from uh circle of Triumph signed by Bobby Allison we have uh Jack Bron poetry in motion signed by Tony Brooks which he didn’t sign very many copies of this is a a lovely publication the twain of Matts this is signed by uh Prince chuler another rare signature is uh Walter Hassan so this is climax in Coventry signed by him and we have a copy of Mike Hawthorne challenge me the race by Mike athor um and then you know in fitting with Goodwood we have the uh book on Barry Williams wizo which was signed by him which was uh a very um well selling publication during his lifetime now he’s sadly not with us but uh you know he was he was part of the the makeup of of Goodwood and the whole Revival movement and then if we just move along here I’ve just acquired some original uh Dexter Brown artwork this is of Steve McQueen so it’s beautifully framed and uh yeah this is obviously of Steve McQueen and then over the other side which I’ll show you I have a uh another Steve McQueen painting this is a wonderful piece this is a an original Georgio Piola drawing from 1973 of the lotus 72 the JPS Lotus uh I’ve had this for some years and brought this out to display here but it’s it’s the most beautiful piece and to think what Georgio Piolo then went on to do um it’s it’s nice to have something from his early career we also have this original uh Team Rus JPS jacket this was from Mario Andre’s head mechanic in 1978 when he won the World Championship I had four other pieces in this collection which have all sold either this weekend or prior to this weekend this is the last piece I have and then finally over here we have the other Dexter Brown painting which is of Steve McQueen driving the motorcycle in the greatest shap which is another really nice piece so we’re going to head out into uh the circuit now and see who we can chat to and see what’s uh incredible cars we can see [Music] w [Music] n [Music] [Music] w [Music] d [Music] [Music] so I’m here with Zander haa who we met last at retromobile a few weeks ago we were at the uh automobile vazan party we had a wonderful time there wearing silly hats and we’re wearing more silly hats today um so what brings you to Goodwood today well most of all I’m a I’m a classic car fan I’m a super car fan I’m a race car fan I also have a club in Munich for petrol heads and collectors and as such I’m come here to meet people friends and and see cool cars yeah so is it the first time you’ve been to Goodwood I think I’ve been there 50 60 times wow but MERS me is it the first no no 10 times yeah and what’s your feeling about mambers meate do you enjoy it compared to the other events I love it a lot my main Pro is that here I can see some of the younger racing cars that I don’t see at the Revival and yet to driven in Anger pretty much so for me it’s nice to see some of the cars I used to work with as well yeah so what what was your involvement in motor sport before setting up your uh club that you do now I worked for uh 5 years at mercedesbenz Motorsports in the communications team uh supporting the Formula 1 team and then representing the brand and all other motor racing series and and go-kart with Lou Hamilton Nick rosberg and Formula 3 for 2000 DTM ITC GT Lam more indie car and that’s why I keep buying all all these books of you because you have so many books with Mercedes-Benz racing car uh you know interfaces so what an error to be involved with with mercedesbenz we want everything but Lam more yeah well you tried hard I mean you threw a lot of money at it and unfortunately there was the terrible crash in 99 awful awful yeah also 98 was not great cuz we had engine failure with both cars and we were very quick 99 was even of course much much worse yeah so were you involved with the Shima career during the group C and and that no not Group C uh I was involved with the Schumaker era in in Ferrari when he’s sometimes beating us sometimes we beat him you know with M and McLaren but I’m I’m only familiar with the group C and Schumer days as a fan not as a professional so did you when did you retire and why did you retire burnt out you just no no not at all no I was offer offered a opportunity within the company to move in a different division and work for the chairman of the company yeah and I’m a racer at heart I still miss it a lot but at the same time sometimes they offer a job you cannot say no yeah and it’s not that I regret it cuz I learned great things afterwards and I still do a bit of hobby racing so it’s not that I left racing it’s just a different role yeah and do you keep in touch with any of the people that you work with over those years a few a few you know to be honest um it was a time that was very inspiring I learned lot from people but um I I have a few friends but not that many friends there also many people that you just don’t get along with you know it’s very competitive yeah and I prefer to surround myself with people that I like yeah and uh I do that in a nice way I still like to come here yeah and it’s funny you still see the the the friendly faces from back in the days like Gordon Murray it’s great to see him or some of the mechanics you know there so many great people Joe Ramirez you know some of the people you know them as well we just spoke about the mcau family you know so there’s still some friendly faces but um but my friends now are pretty much outside of racing well that for me that’s one of the great differences between you know the CL classic car racing and and modern day racing is it’s uh some of those edges have been softened and it’s not taken as seriously and it’s it’s easier to get on with lots of people I find I think so too I think so too well I hope you enjoy the rest of the weekend thanks for the chat and hopefully we’ll be at another party again so we will I’m surek Cheers Cheers so we’re here with some VIPs these are two of my children this is Dexter and this is Diana and you kids have been coming to motorport events your whole life yeah what do you think of goodw members meeting um I think that it’s a very special event CU only members can come of course and also I like seeing all of the vintage cars that go around the track so we’re hopefully later on we’re going to go and try and get you to sit in GE her Burgers Ferrari if we can organize that yeah so what other things do you like about it Diana I like the rides it’s very inclusive for kids and the like all the selection of foods like you can get Mexican you can get pizza you can get you had a crepe yesterday your favorite yeah was that good yeah it was really good so it you know this event is great for all members of the family and uh no I can recommend bringing kids along and we’re off now to go back to the fun fair yeah yeah [Music] n [Music] so here we are back on the St stand and I’ve just met up with John ncass who his new Nash Healey book is out today uh John has been an author of many books so Ral Britannia which is when I think we first met when that it is then we did badass and face of change Lord Almighty and so are you glad to be back at Goodwood brings you back it is it is a second home you know I love the UK um I think anytime you get to be in England is a great thing and anytime you get to be in chest for good it is an even better thing so what’s been the highlight of your weekend thus far uh I think it has to be seeing all the Can-Am Shadows running around a track and you know on a continent they never got to race out before no no and it was and it’s funny you should say that because every person who’s been on this stand said exactly what you did about the Can-Am shadows and and frankly I think what it really does is is wet everybody’s appetite for the Festival of speed where all the shadows will be here not just the Can-Am cars but the F1 cars and the 5000 cars which will be just mindblowing it will be and and I have an ulterior motive in saying that by Festival speed we should have a new book out called racing in the shadows oh wonderful wonderful and is that D Watson publication or unfortunately it is all right very good we’ll look forward to stalking that so anyway John’s book is was out literally in this country what two days ago arrived in this country uh so you can get it off the website and uh yeah we’re going to head over and check out out the shadow Canam cars now [Music] a [Music] go [Music] he [Music] oh [Music] go go go go go on go [Music] so I’m here with Egon vineer who’s a big time car collector and restorer and we’re here with your um ex gar H Burger f189 640 right and it was on track yesterday Gard was driving it but you had a there was an oil lake so he’s not out today only a little bit of an oil leak yeah the car runs but we take the safe way and then keep it and control it before we run it again because uh I think that people want to see it at the festival of speed again running so we didn’t take any chances and now checking it with the right people and curing it or maybe it even would not have a problem but such a an important piece of history for Ferrari because in 1988 when the turbo erors stopped with K bger uh winning in monzer against all the other McLaren wins in that year Anda Ferrari was really happy and he wanted his B12 back and that is actually the 639 and 640 been the way back to really a competitor in the form one championship for the uh Constructor world championship and drivers world champion ship because uh that is uh also the Game Changer in history of race cars because it’s the first car with pedal shift on the steering whe yeah and his teammate in 89 was Nigel Manel was Nigel Manel yeah exactly they started to test the car that’s why Enzo Ferrari blessed that car because it’s the Le last one he’s actually seen because he died I think in September 1988 but the development was going on in 88 and he seen that car running and H the V12 uh he was had a little bit of mixed emotions about the uh about the the the the gear change uh and um about the pedal shift so they also had as a plan if that would not work they would have the V12 but with a normal mechanical gearbox and you’ve driven this car in Austria or I’ve driven that car in Austria as well so where did you drive in the uh asro ring or where uh red Bull Ring red bu we had it we had it out at the Red Bull Ring we had it out uh at several other happenings and uh we had menel in his car because uh we always kept the cars together as the 27 and 28 of the 89 season and have some spare parts of it to keep them uh running as they should yeah and you you brought lots of cars to Goodwood before including the one of the early McLarens which I think you had at the fesal speed last year yeah the first one yeah and so what else are you bringing to Festival speed just this or you’ve got other cars you bringing maybe we have a plan to bring a a mlar um maybe the McLaren again and a brm Nikki’s first uh brm nice very nice what he raced so let’s see we get it together you’re a big fan of uh AUST cars the austrians drive obviously yes I’m proud I’m a proud Austrian mechanic so I’m proud of that it’s good it’s really good well thanks for your time Egon and uh hopefully we’re going to come and see you in Austria and do a full episode on you and your business I think that you should make a book on it because we have so much material but you’re historically very knowledgeable so you could write as well well it’s um you know it’s a really significant car and uh I think everyone really enjoyed to see it going around Goodwood and I think now my son is going to get the chance to actually sit in the car he could get in the car but you have to take off the shoes then I will lift you in course come on careful Safety First [Music] excuse me excuse me Sor what happened to so his his dream is to become a Ferrari driver but this is the closest that he’s ever got to a Ferrari Formula 1 car so it’s really made his day Wy have the other steering not the the the moral oh they you’re going to get the steering wheel now next to careful so you don’t sit you would sit back like that they well they’re a bit bigger than you here let me take a picture of [Music] you all right good yeah yeah you fit good in it give it another 3 years and then we’ll hire you as a driver ready go out this side [Music] then stand up in the seat yeah yeah you could touch that here touch it here yeah stand up in the seat that’s it look just look around here see where the headrest is with the Prancing horse burn that yeah yeah cuz yesterday I was um I was looking yesterday I was looking at the C and then I noticed that they had like burn Mr your hi see good to see you how you nice to meet you you I’m have a quick you video is it right to just say hello of course yeah absolutely so here we are with xf1 Ferrari driver Stephan Johansson now a fulltime up so are you driving anything here or no I just came down for the day I was on my way back to Los Angeles it’s a real pleasure to see you and uh thank you very much my son Dex by the way there you go thank you [Music] w [Music] up [Music] [Music] [Music] hey hey hey hey hey hey hey hey hey hey hey hey hey hey [Music] hey [Music] oh hey hey heyyy [Music] [Music] so a fixture of our stand at the Goodwood events is Tim Hayne selling his book lap of Honor which is here and so you had a really close relationship with Sterling Moss I first saw him in April 1962 as a we Nipper the day he had his accident and then I came back here in 1998 to resurrect my love of motor racing photography with an amb I to take one photograph of him in action I got my picture and that was my ambition realized I never dreamed that he would see the picture call me up tell me jokes that you and I wouldn’t tell our mothers and that we would end up doing this book together that he would be on the end of a phone for me or putting the kettle on for the next 18 years until he passed away so yes it was a wonderful friendship really what of a better word and so the the book is a real uh a book of passion basically yes and it’s you know whenever you come and do signings here people really appreciate you telling the stories and and being able to sign copies for them it’s it’s a lovely thing and it’s also lovely when people come up as has happened a couple of times today one chap came up and said um I’ve devoured your book I really enjoy it thank you so much that really gets you here and you hope that Sterling gets it to somewhere wherever he is quite point at that what a few days ago was the fourth anniversary of his death fourth i i i the time well I think Co did weird things to all of us since of time but yes fourth anniversary yeah and this was just a you know a project of passion as I’ve said but you’re uh musician by trade that’s right and you were out with kiky d last night well she used to work with my sister they did an album together kit did the title track for it it was called perfect timing years ago and um then yeah she did a gig local to us I went and said hello after all these years and then I got a message from my sister saying oh Kiki invited you to her show on well last night so we went and saw her again which was lovely that must have been a fantastic evening it was great and and well she’s 77 now but she’s still singing beautifully writing great stuff and making great music you know yeah and so your uh genre of music is Ray is that right well I’ve I’ve been called the Van Morrison of B by a guy who is mixing some of my tracks and who um produced six albums for the Rolling Stones a guy called Chris kimsey um B is a term which is a mix of Blues and reggae because I was raised on Blues yeah all the blues greates and uh then hired to play reggae and the reggae kind of stuck so um hence the Van Morrison and B yeah Van Morrison obviously being a songwriter and Chris likes my Tunes God God knows why but he does you know well it’s always a pleasure to have you back on the stand and we’ll look forward to having you for many more years it’s a pleasure to be here and thanks for the time I was going to say in honor but as John C said to me that’s too serious a word you know very true thanks a lot thank you Ben cheers thank you so it’s goodbye from the hton family at the Goodwood members meet make sure to like And subscribe and we’ll see you in the next one [Music] .

0.88 Matts this is signed by uh Prince
0.88 chuler another rare signature is uh
0.88 Walter Hassan so this is climax in
0.88 Coventry signed by him and we have a
0.88 copy of Mike Hawthorne challenge me the
0.88 race by Mike
0.88 athor um and then you
0.88 know in fitting with Goodwood we have
0.88 the uh book on Barry Williams wizo which
0.88 was signed by him which was uh a very um
0.88 well selling publication during his
0.88 lifetime now he&;s sadly not with us but
0.88 uh you know he was he was part of the
0.88 the makeup of of Goodwood and the whole
0.88 Revival
0.88 movement and then if we just move along
0.88 here I&;ve just acquired some original uh
0.88 Dexter Brown
0.88 artwork this is of Steve
0.88 McQueen so it&;s beautifully framed and
0.88 uh yeah this is obviously of Steve
0.88 McQueen and then over the other side
0.88 which I&;ll show you I have a uh another
0.88 Steve McQueen painting this is a
0.88 wonderful piece this is a an original
0.88 Georgio Piola drawing from
0.88 1973 of the lotus 72 the JPS Lotus uh
0.88 I&;ve had this for some years and brought
0.88 this out to display here but it&;s it&;s
0.88 the most beautiful piece and to think
0.88 what Georgio Piolo then went on to do um
0.88 it&;s it&;s nice to have something from
0.88 his early career we also have this
0.88 original uh Team Rus JPS jacket this was
0.88 from Mario Andre&;s head mechanic in 1978
0.88 when he won the World Championship I had
0.88 four other pieces in this collection
0.88 which have all sold either this weekend
0.88 or prior to this weekend this is the
0.88 last piece I have and then finally over
0.88 here we have the other Dexter Brown
0.88 painting which is of Steve McQueen
0.88 driving the motorcycle in the greatest
0.88 shap which is another really nice
0.88 piece so we&;re going to head out into uh
0.88 the circuit now and see who we can chat
0.88 to and see what&;s uh incredible cars we
0.88 can see

0.88 so I&;m here with Zander haa who we met
0.88 last at retromobile a few weeks ago we
0.88 were at the uh automobile vazan party we
0.88 had a wonderful time there wearing silly
0.88 hats and we&;re wearing more silly hats
0.88 today um so what brings you to Goodwood
0.88 today well most of all I&;m a I&;m a
0.88 classic car fan I&;m a super car fan I&;m
0.88 a race car fan I also have a club in
0.88 Munich for petrol heads and collectors
0.88 and as such I&;m come here to meet people
0.88 friends and and see cool cars yeah so is
0.88 it the first time you&;ve been to
0.88 Goodwood I think I&;ve been there 50 60
0.88 times wow but MERS me is it the first no
0.88 no 10 times yeah and what&;s your feeling
0.88 about mambers meate do you enjoy it
0.88 compared to the other events I love it a
0.88 lot my
0.88 main Pro is that here I can see some of
0.88 the younger racing cars that I don&;t see
0.88 at the Revival and yet to driven in
0.88 Anger pretty much so for me it&;s nice to
0.88 see some of the cars I used to work with
0.88 as well yeah so what what was your
0.88 involvement in motor sport before
0.88 setting up your uh club that you do now
0.88 I worked for uh 5 years at mercedesbenz
0.88 Motorsports in the communications team
0.88 uh supporting the Formula 1 team and
0.88 then representing the brand and all
0.88 other motor racing series and and
0.88 go-kart with Lou Hamilton Nick rosberg
0.88 and Formula 3 for 2000 DTM ITC GT Lam
0.88 more indie car and that&;s why I keep
0.88 buying all all these books of you
0.88 because you have so many books with
0.88 Mercedes-Benz racing car uh you know
0.88 interfaces so what an error to be
0.88 involved with with
0.88 mercedesbenz we want everything but Lam
0.88 more yeah well you tried hard I mean you
0.88 threw a lot of money at it and
0.88 unfortunately there was the terrible
0.88 crash in 99 awful awful yeah also 98 was
0.88 not great cuz we had engine failure with
0.88 both cars and we were very quick 99 was
0.88 even of course much much worse yeah so
0.88 were you involved with the Shima career
0.88 during the group C and and that no not
0.88 Group C uh I was involved with the
0.88 Schumaker era in in Ferrari when he&;s
0.88 sometimes beating us sometimes we beat
0.88 him you know with M and McLaren but I&;m
0.88 I&;m only familiar with the group C and
0.88 Schumer days as a fan not as a
0.88 professional so did you when did you
0.88 retire and why did you retire burnt out
0.88 you just no no not at all no I was offer
0.88 offered a opportunity within the company
0.88 to move in a different division and work
0.88 for the chairman of the company yeah and
0.88 I&;m a racer at heart I still miss it a
0.88 lot but at the same time sometimes they
0.88 offer a job you cannot say no yeah and
0.88 it&;s not that I regret it cuz I learned
0.88 great things afterwards and I still do a
0.88 bit of hobby racing so it&;s not that I
0.88 left racing it&;s just a different role
0.88 yeah and do you keep in touch with any
0.88 of the people that you work with over
0.88 those years a few a few you know to be
0.88 honest
0.88 um it was a time that was very inspiring
0.88 I learned lot from people but um I I
0.88 have a few friends but not that many
0.88 friends there also many people that you
0.88 just don&;t get along with you know it&;s
0.88 very competitive yeah and I prefer to
0.88 surround myself with people that I like
0.88 yeah and uh I do that in a nice way I
0.88 still like to come here yeah and it&;s
0.88 funny you still see the the the friendly
0.88 faces from back in the days like Gordon
0.88 Murray it&;s great to see him or some of
0.88 the mechanics you know there so many
0.88 great people Joe Ramirez you know some
0.88 of the people you know them as well we
0.88 just spoke about the mcau family you
0.88 know so there&;s still some friendly
0.88 faces but um but my friends now are
0.88 pretty much outside of racing well that
0.88 for me that&;s one of the great
0.88 differences between you know the CL
0.88 classic car racing and and modern day
0.88 racing is it&;s uh some of those edges
0.88 have been softened and it&;s not taken as
0.88 seriously and it&;s it&;s easier to get on
0.88 with lots of people I find I think so
0.88 too I think so too well I hope you enjoy
0.88 the rest of the weekend thanks for the
0.88 chat and hopefully we&;ll be at another
0.88 party again so we will I&;m surek Cheers
0.88 Cheers so we&;re here with some
0.88 VIPs these are two of my children this
0.88 is Dexter and this is Diana and you kids
0.88 have been coming to motorport events
0.88 your whole life yeah what do you think
0.88 of goodw members meeting um I think that
0.88 it&;s a very special event CU only
0.88 members can come of course and also I
0.88 like seeing all of the vintage cars that
0.88 go around the track so we&;re hopefully
0.88 later on we&;re going to go and try and
0.88 get you to sit in GE her Burgers Ferrari
0.88 if we can organize that yeah so what
0.88 other things do you like about it Diana
0.88 I like the rides it&;s very inclusive for
0.88 kids and the like all the selection of
0.88 foods like you can get Mexican you can
0.88 get pizza you can get you had a crepe
0.88 yesterday your favorite yeah was that
0.88 good yeah it was really good so it you
0.88 know this event is great for all members
0.88 of the family and uh no I can recommend
0.88 bringing kids along and we&;re off now to
0.88 go back to the fun fair yeah yeah
0.88 [Music]

0.88 [Music]
0.88 so here we are back on the St stand and
0.88 I&;ve just met up with John ncass who his
0.88 new Nash Healey book is out today uh
0.88 John has been an author of many books so
0.88 Ral Britannia which is when I think we
0.88 first met when that it is then we did
0.88 badass and face of change Lord Almighty
0.88 and so are you glad to be back at
0.88 Goodwood brings you back it is it is a
0.88 second home you know I love the UK um I
0.88 think anytime you get to be in England
0.88 is a great thing and anytime you get to
0.88 be in chest for good it is an even
0.88 better thing so what&;s been the
0.88 highlight of your weekend thus far uh I
0.88 think it has to be seeing all the Can-Am
0.88 Shadows running around a track and you
0.88 know on a continent they never got to
0.88 race out before no no and it was and
0.88 it&;s funny you should say that because
0.88 every person who&;s been on this stand
0.88 said exactly what you did about the
0.88 Can-Am shadows and and frankly I think
0.88 what it really does is is wet
0.88 everybody&;s appetite for the Festival of
0.88 speed where all the shadows will be here
0.88 not just the Can-Am cars but the F1 cars
0.88 and the 5000 cars which will be just
0.88 mindblowing it will be and and I have an
0.88 ulterior motive in saying that by
0.88 Festival speed we should have a new book
0.88 out called racing in the shadows oh
0.88 wonderful wonderful and is that D Watson
0.88 publication or unfortunately it is all
0.88 right very good we&;ll look forward to
0.88 stalking that so anyway John&;s book is
0.88 was out literally in this country what
0.88 two days ago arrived in this country uh
0.88 so you can get it off the website and uh
0.88 yeah we&;re going to head over and check
0.88 out out the shadow Canam cars now

0.88 [Music]
0.88 so I&;m here with Egon vineer who&;s a big
0.88 time car collector and restorer and
0.88 we&;re here with your um ex gar H Burger
0.88 f189
0.88 640 right and it was on track yesterday
0.88 Gard was driving it but you had a there
0.88 was an oil lake so he&;s not out today
0.88 only a little bit of an oil leak yeah
0.88 the car runs but we take the safe way
0.88 and then keep it and control it before
0.88 we run it again because uh I think that
0.88 people want to see it at the festival of
0.88 speed again running so we didn&;t take
0.88 any chances and now checking it with the
0.88 right people and curing it or maybe it
0.88 even would not have a problem but such a
0.88 an important piece of history for
0.88 Ferrari because in 1988 when the turbo
0.88 erors stopped with K bger uh winning in
0.88 monzer against all the other McLaren
0.88 wins in that year Anda Ferrari was
0.88 really happy and he wanted his B12 back
0.88 and that is actually the 639 and 640
0.88 been the way back to really a competitor
0.88 in the form one championship for the uh
0.88 Constructor world championship and
0.88 drivers world champion ship because uh
0.88 that is uh also the Game Changer in
0.88 history of race cars because it&;s the
0.88 first car with pedal shift on the
0.88 steering whe yeah and his teammate in 89
0.88 was Nigel Manel was Nigel Manel yeah
0.88 exactly they started to test the car
0.88 that&;s why Enzo Ferrari blessed that car
0.88 because it&;s the Le last one he&;s
0.88 actually seen because he died I think in
0.88 September 1988 but the development was
0.88 going on in 88 and he seen that car
0.88 running and H the V12
0.88 uh he was had a little bit of mixed
0.88 emotions about the uh about the the the
0.88 the gear change uh and um about the
0.88 pedal shift so they also had as a plan
0.88 if that would not work they would have
0.88 the V12 but with a normal mechanical
0.88 gearbox and you&;ve driven this car in
0.88 Austria or I&;ve driven that car in
0.88 Austria as well so where did you drive
0.88 in the uh asro ring or where uh red Bull
0.88 Ring red bu we had it we had it out at
0.88 the Red Bull Ring we had it out uh at
0.88 several other happenings and uh we had
0.88 menel in his car because uh we always
0.88 kept the cars together as the 27 and 28
0.88 of the 89 season and have some spare
0.88 parts of it to keep them uh running as
0.88 they should yeah and you you brought
0.88 lots of cars to Goodwood before
0.88 including the one of the early McLarens
0.88 which I think you had at the fesal speed
0.88 last year yeah the first one yeah and so
0.88 what else are you bringing to Festival
0.88 speed just this or you&;ve got other cars
0.88 you bringing maybe we have a plan to
0.88 bring a a mlar um maybe the McLaren
0.88 again and a brm Nikki&;s first uh brm
0.88 nice very nice what he raced so let&;s
0.88 see we get it together you&;re a big fan
0.88 of uh AUST cars the austrians drive
0.88 obviously yes I&;m proud I&;m a proud
0.88 Austrian mechanic so I&;m proud of that
0.88 it&;s good it&;s really good well thanks
0.88 for your time Egon and uh hopefully
0.88 we&;re going to come and see you in
0.88 Austria and do a full episode on you and
0.88 your business I think that you should
0.88 make a book on it because we have so
0.88 much material but you&;re historically
0.88 very knowledgeable so you could write as
0.88 well well it&;s um you know it&;s a really
0.88 significant car and uh I think everyone
0.88 really enjoyed to see it going around
0.88 Goodwood and I think now my son is going
0.88 to get the chance to actually sit in the
0.88 car he could get in the car but you have
0.88 to take off the shoes then I will lift
0.88 you in course come
0.88 on
0.88 careful Safety First
0.88 [Music]
0.88 excuse
0.88 me excuse me Sor what happened to so
0.88 his his dream is to become a Ferrari
0.88 driver but this is the closest that he&;s
0.88 ever got to a Ferrari Formula 1 car so
0.88 it&;s really made his day Wy have the
0.88 other steering not the the the
0.88 moral oh they you&;re going to get the
0.88 steering wheel now next to
0.88 careful so you don&;t sit you would sit
0.88 back like
0.88 that
0.88 they well they&;re a bit bigger than
0.88 you here let me take a picture of
0.88 [Music]
0.88 you all
0.88 right good yeah
0.88 yeah you fit good in it give it another
0.88 3 years and then we&;ll hire you as a
0.88 driver
0.88 ready go out this side
0.88 [Music]
0.88 then stand up in the seat yeah yeah you
0.88 could touch that here touch it
0.88 here yeah stand up in the seat that&;s
0.88 it look just look around here see where
0.88 the headrest is with the Prancing horse
0.88 burn that yeah
0.88 yeah cuz yesterday I was um I was
0.88 looking yesterday I was looking at the C
0.88 and then I noticed that they had like
0.88 burn Mr your hi
0.88 see good to see you how you nice to meet
0.88 you you I&;m have a quick you video is it
0.88 right to just say hello of course yeah
0.88 absolutely so here we are with xf1
0.88 Ferrari driver Stephan Johansson now a
0.88 fulltime
0.88 up so are you driving anything here or
0.88 no I just came down for the day I was on
0.88 my way back to Los
0.88 Angeles it&;s a real pleasure to see you
0.88 and uh thank you very much my son Dex by

0.88 so a fixture of our stand at the
0.88 Goodwood events is Tim Hayne selling his
0.88 book lap of Honor which is here and so
0.88 you had a really close relationship with
0.88 Sterling
0.88 Moss I first saw
0.88 him in April 1962 as a we Nipper the day
0.88 he had his accident and then I came back
0.88 here in 1998 to resurrect my love of
0.88 motor racing photography with an amb I
0.88 to take one photograph of him in action
0.88 I got my picture and that was my
0.88 ambition realized I never dreamed that
0.88 he would see the picture call me up tell
0.88 me jokes that you and I wouldn&;t tell
0.88 our mothers and that we would end up
0.88 doing this book together that he would
0.88 be on the end of a phone for me or
0.88 putting the kettle on for the next 18
0.88 years until he passed away so yes it was
0.88 a wonderful friendship really what of a
0.88 better word and so the the book is a
0.88 real uh
0.88 a book of passion basically yes and it&;s
0.88 you know whenever you come and do
0.88 signings here people really appreciate
0.88 you telling the stories and and being
0.88 able to sign copies for them it&;s it&;s a
0.88 lovely thing and it&;s also lovely when
0.88 people come up as has happened a couple
0.88 of times today one chap came up and said
0.88 um I&;ve devoured your book I really
0.88 enjoy it thank you so much that really
0.88 gets you here and you hope that Sterling
0.88 gets it to somewhere wherever he is
0.88 quite point at that what a few days ago
0.88 was the fourth anniversary of his death
0.88 fourth i i i the time well I think Co
0.88 did weird things to all of us since of
0.88 time but yes fourth anniversary yeah and
0.88 this was just a you know a project of
0.88 passion as I&;ve said but you&;re uh
0.88 musician by trade that&;s right and you
0.88 were out with kiky d last night well she
0.88 used to work with my sister they did an
0.88 album together kit did the title track
0.88 for it it was called perfect timing
0.88 years ago
0.88 and um then yeah she did a gig local to
0.88 us I went and said hello after all these
0.88 years and then I got a message from my
0.88 sister saying oh Kiki invited you to her
0.88 show on well last night so we went and
0.88 saw her again which was lovely that must
0.88 have been a fantastic evening it was
0.88 great and and well she&;s 77 now but
0.88 she&;s still singing beautifully writing
0.88 great stuff and making great music you
0.88 know yeah and so your uh genre of music
0.88 is Ray is that right well I&;ve I&;ve been
0.88 called the Van Morrison of
0.88 B by a guy who is mixing some of my
0.88 tracks and who um produced six albums
0.88 for the Rolling Stones a guy called
0.88 Chris kimsey um B is a term which is a
0.88 mix of Blues and reggae because I was
0.88 raised on Blues yeah all the blues
0.88 greates and uh then hired to play reggae
0.88 and the reggae kind of stuck so um hence
0.88 the Van Morrison and B yeah Van Morrison
0.88 obviously being a songwriter and Chris
0.88 likes my Tunes God God knows why but he
0.88 does you know well it&;s always a
0.88 pleasure to have you back on the stand
0.88 and we&;ll look forward to having you for
0.88 many more years it&;s a pleasure to be
0.88 here and thanks for the time I was going
0.88 to say in honor but as John C said to me
0.88 that&;s too serious a word you know very
0.88 true thanks a lot thank you Ben cheers
0.88 thank
0.88 you so it&;s goodbye from the hton family
0.88 at the Goodwood members meet make sure
0.88 to like And subscribe and we&;ll see you
0.88 in the next one
