1930 Chevrolet Huckster
Vin: 491161
An Outstanding piece of American History, this is a very rare 30′ Chevy Huckster that has been beautifully restored. The restoration was completed roughly 8 years ago, but looks like it was finished yesterday. 1930 was the first year for production of the Huckster so this is the original! Powering this piece of history is a 194ci Stovebolt Inline 6 Engine that’s paired with a Carter 1 Barrel Carburetor. The Engine sounds beautiful and runs amazing. Looking inside this Huckster you’ll find black bench seating with upholstery that really allocates the beauty into this car. The dash pad is clean and stocked with all the original gauges that work! This is one solid car from start to finish. Looking at this Huckster brings you back to how much arduous work was put into the original crafting of this truck, which was a large part of the goods and services provided in the 30’s. These kinds of trucks were made for fruit sales and even for the milkman! Call us today and let VMS park this Huckster in your driveway!

Retranscription des paroles de la vidéo: okay guys my name is Kermit welcome back to Vanguard behind me is a 1930 Chevy huckster if I’m not mistaken it’s the first year for these things and I’ll tell you one thing with you could have the biggest motor in the world and there’s always gonna be someone that’s gonna be faster than you but you know what when you’re driving one of these you’re probably you’re not gonna find anyone that’s cooler than you so without but not really say too much more let’s hear that old stove boat run [Applause] [Music] okay well starting at the front of this you can see that very few modifications if any and what modifications have been done are very tasteful it does has turn it has had turn signals added to this thing these are sealed beam headlights inside here of course they both been replaced the turn signals have both been worked on everything works just fine on this inside this little thing here you actually take this cap off and inside this is where you actually stick the crank the crank comes with the car just in case you just for heck it’s actually just really fun to do if you ever want to fire it off like that just watch it they’ve been known to hurt people when they backfire if they do or kick back on you you can see the paint on this thing is absolutely beautiful I mean it is it just this thing just plain pops I mean you can see here that I’ve been once again you’ve also got these running lights up here they also work that little running light back there actually works brake brake lights work as I said turn signals work but back to the paint I mean this thing looks amazing for what it is I mean 1930 and something else I’d like to point out to the body is on these things the framework here is all wood and this is just a like a steel veneer that they actually tacked over this and there is of course being a 1930 there’s a there was no machine that did that there is a guy that actually hold held all this together and actually tack nails in this thing and put this thing together and this thing is held up wonderfully over the years as you can see does have the correct bias ply tires on it and does have the mechanical drum brakes under it and of course we’ve checked out I personally have checked out everything underneath this car and I think everything is absolutely fine and when we get to the interior I’ll show you what I’ve done underneath the dash its absolutely you know it’s beautiful it’s been updated not you know untape fillet it has been updated you know to be a solid driver automobile as you can see here we do have these like roll-up flaps here in the back they just roll right down you can actually pin them to here and you can drive this thing with it open or closed whatever you decide in the back here we can just do like the if you actually pull these up you can see here bad in this thing is in really good shape wood bed this is wood as well let this down slowly here and yeah I mean probably back in the day with a with this thing would have been hauling fruit or something of that nature who knows but it survived very well and if I’m not mistaken the the speedometer shows 70,000 miles on this thing which is pretty amazing that it survived and it runs as good as it does that that all being said it closes just like that coming around to this side of it you can see when just wonderful shape and you can see everything in these pin this paint especially with these antiques people normally don’t take the time to paint these things this nice and I mean I absolutely love this car this is officially my one of my favorite cars in the shop you know there’s only one or two cars battling for it and both of those are 1930s and 1931 cars as well but this thing drives absolutely amazing is we are just about ready to see runs fantastic I mean this thing is just it’s it’s truly is amazing that all being said let’s take a look at the interior okay guys as you can see the interior obviously has been we’re done whenever they restored the car or the truck I should say of course they’ve got a beautiful door panels on the thing the seats are in great shape of course you can see the carpets in wonderful shape everything in here works the oil pressure gauge speedometer to the trip odometer you can see here we’ve got all of our knobs labeled there the gas gauge actually works amp meter works coolant gauge works you can pull that light switch out the dash lights come on I’ll show you that here when we go to grab the thing horn works mergency flashers work and something else that we did here I actually did personally if you’d like to look underneath the dash there you can see that this thing has been completely and totally rewired everything is nice and safe there’s none of that old-school cotton wiring underneath there with you know that just basically is wiring wrapped and tinder or kindling it’s a it’s been updated you know of course not not where you can see much of it most of its hidden but it’s very very solid everything under there works just fine just as it was designed to and outside of that let’s check out the passenger side okay guys on this side obviously it’s in just as good shape as the other side they didn’t just restore one side of the interior I took the seat out of it just to show you this is where the fuel tank is at over there is where the sending unit is of course we’ve had all the I had the sending unit apart repaired that and put new floats on and everything so the gas gauge is completely and totally accurate when you see me drive it you’ll see that it’s full that’s true you do have a full tank of gas like I had mentioned in the front of the vehicle you do it does come with the old car I believe this is the original crank for the car that comes with it and it just sits right behind here you do have storage and either side of underneath the seats on this side and over there and pretty much that’s about it for the interior on this thing I say we get to take this thing for a little cruise alright guys taking the huckster for a little cruise here this thing just cruises along just fine no synchronizers in the transmission just the way it should be but you can see how smoothly it shifts gets up to speed just fine you do that a double-clutch or if you’re really good you don’t necessarily have to but you got to know what you’re doing and the fact you don’t even really have to use the club for this thing if you’re really good and with a little bit of practice you’ll be able to do it just fine I mean and this thing just motors it runs absolutely awesome it doesn’t ride all that bad as you can see oil pressure gauge is functional we’ve got a functional speedometer functional charge gauge we got a functional water temperature gauge gas gauge is functioning that’s not lying you do have a full tank of gas in this thing advanced knife there I’ve got it a little bit less advanced just for low speed cruising if you were to hop this thing up kind of out on like a I don’t want to say freeway cuz this thing really it’s happy doing about 45 50 I wouldn’t really recommend doing much more than that with it but if you were to get it up you’re like real cruising speed you could definitely go ahead and put a little bit of timing in it you can see the thing stopped just fine get her in gear here those motor is not really all that noisy and if I kind of get into it a little bit it gets right up to speed it goes right into here no problems whatsoever you let go the wheel it actually steers pretty darn straight doesn’t handle all that bad I mean this thing it’s impossible to not have fun in this car like I said they’re gonna be a million people that’ll be faster than you no matter what you’re driving but you know what when you’re driving one of these there’s really not many that’s going to be cooler than you there you go got the downshift coming around the corner [Music] about 15 pounds of oil pressure now this is a low pressure stove bolt which is very very normal to these engines coming up on about 30 mile an hour right now I would like to showcase that this does indeed work I mean that works and this thing does absolutely it is by far my favorite car in the shop as of right now it’s competing with just a couple of other old timers but you know what they don’t drive this good and give this a tighten down here just so didn’t bother me in the video wait for these cars to pass turn signals do work on this thing both left right and if you pull its emergency flashers hi this is a 50s turn signal squid stance on this thing [Music] gets right up the stage no problems turning turn signal live right the gear no problems the transmissions relatively quiet parking great does work in this thing what else everything else is on fuses on here as far as your electronics go if you can’t really see it now because it’s daylight up but you got fully functional headlights on this thing the dash lights even work on this regular I wired it up just like a regular headlights which one pull out is markers full pull out is your full headlights you got high and low beam on this thing I also did flush the transmission or if not sorry not the transfer I did actually change the transmission lubricant in it for you guys and I also change the radiator fluid in this as well so that’s nice clean green and your transmission fluid is the correct heavy weight transmission loop that what it came in this back from the day which is once again why you ships as well as it does is it’s got the the right stuff in it unfortunately we are coming back to the shop so I have to actually stop driving this thing as much fun as this is but I’ll throw it up on the oyster if we can find one for it and I get two Diegans really talk about the the guts of this thing and what it really is this thing is like I said it’s just the way that it should be I’m pretty sure the motor is right for the car and pretty sure the trans is right for the car the rear end is right for it I mean it’s it’s absolutely an amazing driving experience it’s a very very raw driving experience that I just you guys got to come in and see this one this one is just unreal okay guys this is the underside of the huckster this thing underneath is actually considering its age has survived just to an immaculate state you can see here we got our torque tube style rear end in this thing we do have modern style shocks that somebody added to the rear of this vehicle definitely a much appreciated upgrade for the ride quality of the car of course I checked the rear end lube it does have the correct thick 600 weight oil which is what should be in this stuff on either end of this axle mechanical brakes of course I’ve had those apart I was happy with everything I saw in there everything got cleaned so on and so forth moving forward at that here’s our linkage for all of our mechanical brakes you can see we’ve got our exhaust here all just original type stuff exhausting this thing we got both of our shackles and then our front shackles here of course they’ve been greased for you know the inspection on the car I greased everything underneath here for this thing moving forward to that I’d like to point out you can see I’ve got this brand new fuel line on it here brand new petcock and all this would be off that is on and that’s just in case you know you want to go to store the car whatever it may be that’s what the the petcock is for if you need to work on the fuel system whatever it may be this here is a three-speed correct I guess it’s cool you’re correct for the car it’s a three-speed unsynchronized gearbox as you saw in the driving video the this thing the casting date is 5:20 a year 28 I believe 1930 which is pretty close to about right for this car it would be pretty surprising to me to find that somebody has found one of these things and replaced it was something that would be so year similar and this is a truck specific or you know heavy duty type transmission that would be in these things so I would all that being said I have to say that this is more than likely the right transmission for this car just to the side of that I should say we have a a six volt battery brand-new and this thing for you guys moving forward if that you can see here that we’ve got all this new wiring here that I installed in the car all this is brand new on this thing everything is wired up properly and safely on this thing so that way you guys should be able to drive it pretty much a problem-free as far as the electrical system goes you can see this big Hank and oil pan here and that is to accommodate this massive crankshaft that’s in this old stove bolt six cylinder which I’m going to show you in just a second of course you got our pants here we’ve got our rode draft tube here the idea behind this is that as air rushes past it creates a suction effect and actually sucks a clean air into the engine which is pretty which is a pretty neat idea and this was actually used up into the 50s and even the 60s moving forward to that of course we got our front brakes here of course I’ve had those completely apart on this thing and I’ve even a regressed and cleaned the wheel bearings everything looked to be excellent in it greased the whole front end on it it’s a and of course adjusted your brakes cleaned your brakes everything seemed to be in pretty good shape on it I was happy with everything I saw in there of course I greased your leaf spring shackles here in the front and in the rear everything seemed to be pretty healthy on this thing that drives as it as it should it drives like a good old healthy car this little just a fYI this little knob here if you unscrew this this is where you actually put the crank for the old antique starter and that actually comes to the car as you saw in the in the show room video and you can’t actually fire this thing off like that if so if the battery does for whatever reason decide to die on you so outside of that we’re gonna lower it now and we’re going to show you the what I believe to be the original 194 cubic inch told bolt six cylinder under the hood alright guys four wheels and we have the original type spoke wheel on this thing we do have four tires on them we have a four-point 75 by five our set our our 19 bias flat tire which is exactly what this should be the Y all’s look great on it it’s a four four ply tire and the thing looks to be in pretty good shape I’d have to say that there’s pretty minimal dry riding on it for you know as old as the car is of course the tires aren’t as old as the car is but you know a lot of the time these things like to like to sit around a lot but this thing looks like it’s in pretty darn good shape and to survive the years pretty darn well let’s go check out the rears okay guys 4.75 by five are 19 inch rim which is a saying this is a 19 inch wire wheel the original type rim as you can see it’s in pretty darn good shape and you could see the tire once again is in pretty darn good shape 4 ply bias ply tire just look just like what’s on the front and you know these little pizza cutters are actually in really good shape for the year let’s go check out the stove bolt onto the hood alright this is the 194 cubic inch stove bolt 6 cylinder that it resides underneath the bonnet of this card this is truly what the stole bolts actually were now you hear me use the term stove bolt a lot when it referred we’re even referring to the later model like the 50s truck engines and the 40s engines but that they’re more so referred to as a blue blue flame straight-6 this truly is a stove bolt six cylinder and they got that nickname from this plate that goes on the side of the motor here that covers all the internals of the engine so that all being said I’d also like to say that this thing is I believe to be the original motor to the to this car here it was cast March eleventh 1930 and there’s a serial number here that stamped onto this little pad right here now this was not originally meant to be a VIN number it was just a sequential number stamped in succession with the years you know just as every motor went out they stamped that you know the next number into the pad there on the side of the engine so that all being said March 11th lines right up about the time that this thing was going to end up being produced and you know that’s it just seems to be right for me outside of all of that you can see here we’ve got a brand new fuel line that I put on this thing this runs all the way from the tank as you saw underneath and this one’s all the way up to the carburetor what you’re gonna see in just a second I’d also like to point out while we’re over here that we’ve got brand-new lower radiator hose that I put on this thing I did clean and maintain the original clamps for this you can see some of the new wiring that we have in it we do have a little bit more modern style a fan up front here of course the motors painted up absolutely beautifully I mean that this is kind of a relatively hard find a hard color to find the Chevy gray for these old antiques moving this way I’d like to also point out before so I’d like to say we do still have points in this distributor they’re set it runs great we have a brand new wiring all throughout this car as I said i rewired this entire automobile we have a maxi fuse here we do have of course brand new cables going up from the battery to the starter and then from this up here to the the maxi fuse and into the car and of course it’s got that’s all you know on fuse it’s got a fuse block in there it all runs through the amp gauge everything works is you guys saw and I’d also like to point out to is when I went to go start this thing up outside I’m sure you saw it notice that on the top of the valve cover here you have these three little uh little I guess it would be holes in the valve cover here and that was meant as air wash past it to almost be kind of like a road draft tube in addition to the road graph tube that’s down there I’d like to point out that you didn’t really see any smoke coming out of those which would it be an implication of blow by this engine actually seems to be extremely healthy as far as the top and compression goes I mean it’s I don’t see anything coming out of that didn’t even want to steam even which is a very common for these things especially being this old you know you would imagine it to be worn out and this thing is just in excellent shape and it runs fantastic outside of that I think that’s about all we need to cover on this side of the engine we’re gonna go on over to the other side and we’ll show you the little car door one barrel and all the goodies that’s over there all right guys on this side of our stole bullet you can see here we’ve got a couple things to talk about one of which being if we’re gonna start from the front back we have a alternator upgrade on this this is a six volt alternator negative ground positive cable here now this is not something we did this is something the previous owner did and this thing charges rock-solid at 7 volts once again just upgrades to the electrical system which in my opinion was kind of the weaker one of the weaker points on these cars when they first came out and of course it’s all been updated to the point of I would consider a pretty high level of reliability underneath that here’s our horn here the old-style Eagle horns I’ve had this thing apart I’ve cleaned it oiled it adjusted it on that works fantastic as you saw the rest of the video if I didn’t blow the the cameras speaker out on that one I guess backward of that you can see we’ve got our carter 1 barrel carburetor this is the updraft model carburetor which is correct for the year of the car now this this carburetor here and this set up on this engine this thing produced if I’m not mistaken 50 horsepower a whopping 50 horsepower at 2,600 rpm which for back in the day it’s actually a surprising amount of horsepower considering the Model T and the Model A I think the Model A at this point which would have been out at this time produced a 40 horsepower from not mistaken so this was an upgrade from that of course then again you had a two more cylinders and actually Chevy slogan back in the day was a six for the price of four which is what you’re kind of getting here and this is that’s kind of that kind of embodies what we got going on here and of course they lengthen the whole chassis z’ of these things and all this stuff to accommodate these bigger engines moving backward from that you can see we’ve got an oil filter on this I did change the oil in this engine when I wouldn’t did when I went and took this car through its process of course you’ve got a wicks filter in here 1540 weight oil change it’s nice and clean dip sticks right down here between this here behind the carburetor it’s right here to be your gearbox here I greased that for you guys along with the whole rest of the car I’d also like to point out you can see here the rest of the wiring here that the course is all been upgraded brake light switch right there so on and so forth the rest of the wiring harness moves throughout the cars you’re gonna see or you have seen I should say outside of that this thing is just a wonderful example of an old antique automobile I mean these things are ingrained into American history as much as you know a lot of things that we’d like to you know put into American history I suppose you know from many things from our old antique Brown basses that you know people seem to talk about with like the Civil War in the Revolutionary War this this is I think another section of American history that isn’t often talked about you know people were driving these things from one end of the country to the other during the Great Depression near the Dust Bowl all these kind of cars were around so that all being said if you’d like to have this piece of American history parked in your driveway and or your garage give Tom a call at the number below and let man guard motor so Park this old Huskers in your driveway you .

8.15 more let&;s hear that old stove boat run
8.15 [Applause]
8.15 [Music]
8.15 okay well starting at the front of this
8.15 you can see that very few modifications
8.15 if any and what modifications have been
8.15 done are very tasteful it does has turn
8.15 it has had turn signals added to this
8.15 thing
8.15 these are sealed beam headlights inside
8.15 here of course they both been replaced
8.15 the turn signals have both been worked
8.15 on everything works just fine on this
8.15 inside this little thing here you
8.15 actually take this cap off and inside
8.15 this is where you actually stick the
8.15 crank the crank comes with the car just
8.15 in case you just for heck it&;s actually
8.15 just really fun to do if you ever want
8.15 to fire it off like that
8.15 just watch it they&;ve been known to hurt
8.15 people when they backfire if they do or
8.15 kick back on you you can see the paint
8.15 on this thing is absolutely beautiful I
8.15 mean it is it just this thing just plain
8.15 pops I mean you can see here that I&;ve
8.15 been once again you&;ve also got these
8.15 running lights up here they also work
8.15 that little running light back there
8.15 actually works brake brake lights work
8.15 as I said turn signals work but back to
8.15 the paint I mean this thing looks
8.15 amazing for what it is
8.15 I mean 1930 and something else I&;d like
8.15 to point out to the body is on these
8.15 things the framework here is all wood
8.15 and this is just a like a steel veneer
8.15 that they actually tacked over this and
8.15 there is of course being a 1930 there&;s
8.15 a there was no machine that did that
8.15 there is a guy that actually hold held
8.15 all this together and actually tack
8.15 nails in this thing and put this thing
8.15 together and this thing is held up
8.15 wonderfully over the years as you can
8.15 see does have the correct bias ply tires
8.15 on it and does have the mechanical drum
8.15 brakes under it and of course we&;ve
8.15 checked out I personally have checked
8.15 out everything underneath this car and I
8.15 think everything is absolutely fine and
8.15 when we get to the interior I&;ll show
8.15 you what I&;ve done underneath the dash
8.15 its absolutely you know it&;s beautiful
8.15 it&;s been updated not you know untape
8.15 fillet it has been updated you know to
8.15 be a solid driver automobile as you can
8.15 see here we do have these like roll-up
8.15 flaps here in the back they just roll
8.15 right down you can actually pin them to
8.15 here and you can drive this thing with
8.15 it open or closed whatever you decide in
8.15 the back here we can just do like the if
8.15 you actually pull these up you can see
8.15 here bad in this thing is in really good
8.15 shape wood bed this is wood as well let
8.15 this down slowly here and yeah I mean
8.15 probably back in the day with a with
8.15 this thing would have been hauling fruit
8.15 or something of that nature who knows
8.15 but it survived very well and if I&;m not
8.15 mistaken the the speedometer shows
8.15 70,000 miles on this thing which is
8.15 pretty amazing that it survived and it
8.15 runs as good as it does that that all
8.15 being said it closes just like that
8.15 coming around to this side of it you can
8.15 see when just wonderful shape and you
8.15 can see everything in these pin this
8.15 paint especially with these antiques
8.15 people normally don&;t take the time to
8.15 paint these things this nice and I mean
8.15 I absolutely love this car this is
8.15 officially my one of my favorite cars in
8.15 the shop you know there&;s only one or
8.15 two cars battling for it and both of
8.15 those are 1930s and 1931 cars as well
8.15 but this thing drives absolutely amazing
8.15 is we are just about ready to see runs
8.15 fantastic I mean this thing is just it&;s
8.15 it&;s truly is amazing that all being
8.15 said let&;s take a look at the interior
8.15 okay guys as you can see the interior
8.15 obviously has been we&;re done whenever
8.15 they restored the car or the truck I
8.15 should say of course they&;ve got a
8.15 beautiful door panels on the thing the
8.15 seats are in great shape of course you
8.15 can see the carpets in wonderful shape
8.15 everything in here works the oil
8.15 pressure gauge speedometer to the trip
8.15 odometer you can see here we&;ve got all
8.15 of our knobs labeled there the gas gauge
8.15 actually works amp meter works coolant
8.15 gauge works you can pull that light
8.15 switch out the dash lights come on I&;ll
8.15 show you that here when we go to grab
8.15 the thing horn works
8.15 mergency flashers work and something
8.15 else that we did here I actually did
8.15 personally if you&;d like to look
8.15 underneath the dash there you can see
8.15 that this thing has been completely and
8.15 totally rewired everything is nice and
8.15 safe there&;s none of that old-school
8.15 cotton wiring underneath there with you
8.15 know that just basically is wiring
8.15 wrapped and tinder or kindling it&;s a
8.15 it&;s been updated you know of course not
8.15 not where you can see much of it most of
8.15 its hidden but it&;s very very solid
8.15 everything under there works just fine
8.15 just as it was designed to and outside
8.15 of that let&;s check out the passenger
8.15 side okay guys on this side obviously
8.15 it&;s in just as good shape as the other
8.15 side they didn&;t just restore one side
8.15 of the interior
8.15 I took the seat out of it just to show
8.15 you this is where the fuel tank is at
8.15 over there is where the sending unit is
8.15 of course we&;ve had all the I had the
8.15 sending unit apart repaired that and put
8.15 new floats on and everything so the gas
8.15 gauge is completely and totally accurate
8.15 when you see me drive it you&;ll see that
8.15 it&;s full that&;s true you do have a full
8.15 tank of gas like I had mentioned in the
8.15 front of the vehicle you do it does come
8.15 with the old car
8.15 I believe this is the original crank for
8.15 the car that comes with it and it just
8.15 sits right behind here you do have
8.15 storage and either side of underneath
8.15 the seats on this side and over there
8.15 and pretty much that&;s about it for the
8.15 interior on this thing I say we get to
8.15 take this thing for a little cruise
8.15 alright guys taking the huckster for a
8.15 little cruise here this thing just
8.15 cruises along just fine no synchronizers
8.15 in the transmission just the way it
8.15 should be but you can see how smoothly
8.15 it shifts gets up to speed just fine
8.15 you do that a double-clutch or if you&;re
8.15 really good you don&;t necessarily have
8.15 to but you got to know what you&;re doing
8.15 and the fact you don&;t even really have
8.15 to use the club for this thing if you&;re
8.15 really good and with a little bit of
8.15 practice you&;ll be able to do it just
8.15 fine I mean and this thing just motors
8.15 it runs absolutely awesome it doesn&;t
8.15 ride all that bad as you can see oil
8.15 pressure gauge is functional we&;ve got a
8.15 functional speedometer functional charge
8.15 gauge we got a functional water
8.15 temperature gauge gas gauge is
8.15 functioning that&;s not lying you do have
8.15 a full tank of gas in this thing
8.15 advanced knife there I&;ve got it a
8.15 little bit less advanced just for low
8.15 speed cruising if you were to hop this
8.15 thing up kind of out on like a I don&;t
8.15 want to say freeway cuz this thing
8.15 really it&;s happy doing about 45 50 I
8.15 wouldn&;t really recommend doing much
8.15 more than that with it but if you were
8.15 to get it up you&;re like real cruising
8.15 speed you could definitely go ahead and
8.15 put a little bit of timing in it you can
8.15 see the thing stopped just fine get her
8.15 in gear here
8.15 those motor is not really all that noisy
8.15 and if I kind of get into it a little
8.15 bit it gets right up to speed it goes
8.15 right into here no problems whatsoever
8.15 you let go the wheel it actually steers
8.15 pretty darn straight doesn&;t handle all
8.15 that bad I mean this thing it&;s
8.15 impossible to not have fun in this car
8.15 like I said they&;re gonna be a million
8.15 people that&;ll be faster than you no
8.15 matter what you&;re driving but you know
8.15 what when you&;re driving one of these
8.15 there&;s really not many that&;s going to
8.15 be cooler than you there you go got the
8.15 downshift coming around the corner
8.15 [Music]
8.15 about 15 pounds of oil pressure now this
8.15 is a low pressure stove bolt which is
8.15 very very normal to these engines coming
8.15 up on about 30 mile an hour right now I
8.15 would like to showcase that this does
8.15 indeed work I mean that works and this
8.15 thing does absolutely it is by far my
8.15 favorite car in the shop as of right now
8.15 it&;s competing with just a couple of
8.15 other old timers but you know what they
8.15 don&;t drive this good and give this a
8.15 tighten down here just so didn&;t bother
8.15 me in the video wait for these cars to
8.15 pass turn signals do work on this thing
8.15 both left right and if you pull its
8.15 emergency flashers hi this is a 50s turn
8.15 signal squid stance on this thing
8.15 [Music]
8.15 gets right up the stage no problems
8.15 turning turn signal live
8.15 right the gear no problems the
8.15 transmissions relatively quiet parking
8.15 great does work in this thing what else
8.15 everything else is on fuses on here as
8.15 far as your electronics go if you can&;t
8.15 really see it now because it&;s daylight
8.15 up but you got fully functional
8.15 headlights on this thing the dash lights
8.15 even work on this regular I wired it up
8.15 just like a regular headlights which one
8.15 pull out is markers full pull out is
8.15 your full headlights you got high and
8.15 low beam on this thing
8.15 I also did flush the transmission or if
8.15 not sorry not the transfer I did
8.15 actually change the transmission
8.15 lubricant in it for you guys and I also
8.15 change the radiator fluid in this as
8.15 well so that&;s nice clean green and your
8.15 transmission fluid is the correct heavy
8.15 weight transmission loop that what it
8.15 came in this back from the day which is
8.15 once again why you ships as well as it
8.15 does is it&;s got the the right stuff in
8.15 it unfortunately we are coming back to
8.15 the shop so I have to actually stop
8.15 driving this thing as much fun as this
8.15 is but I&;ll throw it up on the oyster if
8.15 we can find one for it and I get two
8.15 Diegans really talk about the the guts
8.15 of this thing and what it really is this
8.15 thing is like I said it&;s just the way
8.15 that it should be I&;m pretty sure the
8.15 motor is right for the car and pretty
8.15 sure the trans is right for the car the
8.15 rear end is right for it I mean it&;s
8.15 it&;s absolutely an amazing driving
8.15 experience it&;s a very very raw driving
8.15 experience that I just you guys got to
8.15 come in and see this one this one is
8.15 just unreal okay guys this is the
8.15 underside of the huckster this thing
8.15 underneath is actually considering its
8.15 age has survived just to an immaculate
8.15 state you can see here we got our torque
8.15 tube style rear end in this thing we do
8.15 have modern style shocks that somebody
8.15 added to the rear of this vehicle
8.15 definitely a much appreciated upgrade
8.15 for the ride quality of the car of
8.15 course I checked the rear end lube it
8.15 does have the correct thick 600 weight
8.15 oil which is what should be in this
8.15 stuff on either end of this axle
8.15 mechanical brakes of course I&;ve had
8.15 those apart I was happy with everything
8.15 I saw in there everything got cleaned so
8.15 on and so forth moving forward at that
8.15 here&;s our linkage for all of our
8.15 mechanical brakes you can see we&;ve got
8.15 our exhaust here all just original type
8.15 stuff exhausting this thing we got both
8.15 of our shackles and then our front
8.15 shackles here of course they&;ve been
8.15 greased for you know the inspection on
8.15 the car I greased everything underneath
8.15 here for this thing moving forward to
8.15 that I&;d like to point out you can see
8.15 I&;ve got this brand new fuel line on it
8.15 here brand new petcock and all this
8.15 would be off that is on and that&;s just
8.15 in case you know you want to go to store
8.15 the car whatever it may be that&;s what
8.15 the the petcock is for if you need to
8.15 work on the fuel system whatever it may
8.15 be this here is a three-speed correct I
8.15 guess it&;s cool you&;re correct for the
8.15 car it&;s a three-speed unsynchronized
8.15 gearbox as you saw in the driving video
8.15 the
8.15 this thing the casting date is 5:20 a
8.15 year 28 I believe 1930 which is pretty
8.15 close to about right for this car it
8.15 would be pretty surprising to me to find
8.15 that somebody has found one of these
8.15 things and replaced it was something
8.15 that would be so year similar and this
8.15 is a truck specific or you know heavy
8.15 duty type transmission that would be in
8.15 these things so I would all that being
8.15 said I have to say that this is more
8.15 than likely the right transmission for
8.15 this car just to the side of that I
8.15 should say we have a a six volt battery
8.15 brand-new and this thing for you guys
8.15 moving forward if that you can see here
8.15 that we&;ve got all this new wiring here
8.15 that I installed in the car all this is
8.15 brand new on this thing everything is
8.15 wired up properly and safely on this
8.15 thing so that way you guys should be
8.15 able to drive it pretty much a
8.15 problem-free as far as the electrical
8.15 system goes you can see this big Hank
8.15 and oil pan here and that is to
8.15 accommodate this massive crankshaft
8.15 that&;s in this old stove bolt six
8.15 cylinder which I&;m going to show you in
8.15 just a second of course you got our
8.15 pants here we&;ve got our rode draft tube
8.15 here the idea behind this is that as air
8.15 rushes past it creates a suction effect
8.15 and actually sucks a clean air into the
8.15 engine which is pretty which is a pretty
8.15 neat idea and this was actually used up
8.15 into the 50s and even the 60s moving
8.15 forward to that of course we got our
8.15 front brakes here of course I&;ve had
8.15 those completely apart on this thing and
8.15 I&;ve even a regressed and cleaned the
8.15 wheel bearings everything looked to be
8.15 excellent in it greased the whole front
8.15 end on it it&;s a and of course adjusted
8.15 your brakes cleaned your brakes
8.15 everything seemed to be in pretty good
8.15 shape on it I was happy with everything
8.15 I saw in there of course I greased your
8.15 leaf spring shackles here in the front
8.15 and in the rear everything seemed to be
8.15 pretty healthy on this thing that drives
8.15 as it as it should it drives like a good
8.15 old healthy car this little just a fYI
8.15 this little knob here if you unscrew
8.15 this this is where you actually put the
8.15 crank for the old antique starter and
8.15 that actually comes to the car as you
8.15 saw in the in the show room video and
8.15 you can&;t actually fire this thing off
8.15 like that if so if the battery does for
8.15 whatever reason decide to die on you so
8.15 outside of that we&;re gonna lower it now
8.15 and we&;re going to show you the what I
8.15 believe to be the original 194 cubic
8.15 inch told bolt six cylinder under the
8.15 hood alright guys four wheels and
8.15 we have the original type spoke wheel on
8.15 this thing
8.15 we do have four tires on them we have a
8.15 four-point 75 by five our set our our 19
8.15 bias flat tire which is exactly what
8.15 this should be the Y all&;s look great on
8.15 it it&;s a four four ply tire and the
8.15 thing looks to be in pretty good shape
8.15 I&;d have to say that there&;s pretty
8.15 minimal dry riding on it for you know as
8.15 old as the car is of course the tires
8.15 aren&;t as old as the car is but you know
8.15 a lot of the time these things like to
8.15 like to sit around a lot but this thing
8.15 looks like it&;s in pretty darn good
8.15 shape and to survive the years pretty
8.15 darn well let&;s go check out the rears
8.15 okay guys 4.75 by five are 19 inch rim
8.15 which is a saying this is a 19 inch wire
8.15 wheel the original type rim as you can
8.15 see it&;s in pretty darn good shape and
8.15 you could see the tire once again is in
8.15 pretty darn good shape 4 ply bias ply
8.15 tire just look just like what&;s on the
8.15 front and you know these little pizza
8.15 cutters are actually in really good
8.15 shape for the year let&;s go check out
8.15 the stove bolt onto the hood alright
8.15 this is the 194 cubic inch stove bolt 6
8.15 cylinder that it resides underneath the
8.15 bonnet of this card this is truly what
8.15 the stole bolts actually were now you
8.15 hear me use the term stove bolt a lot
8.15 when it referred we&;re even referring to
8.15 the later model like the 50s truck
8.15 engines and the 40s engines but that
8.15 they&;re more so referred to as a blue
8.15 blue flame straight-6 this truly is a
8.15 stove bolt six cylinder and they got
8.15 that nickname from this plate that goes
8.15 on the side of the motor here that
8.15 covers all the internals of the engine
8.15 so that all being said I&;d also like to
8.15 say that this thing is I believe to be
8.15 the original motor to the to this car
8.15 here it was cast March eleventh 1930 and
8.15 there&;s a serial number here that
8.15 stamped onto this little pad right here
8.15 now this was not originally meant to be
8.15 a VIN number it was just a sequential
8.15 number stamped in succession with the
8.15 years you know just as every motor went
8.15 out they stamped that you know the next
8.15 number into the pad there on the side of
8.15 the engine so that all being said March
8.15 11th lines right up about the time that
8.15 this thing was going to end up being
8.15 produced and you know that&;s it just
8.15 seems to be right for me outside of all
8.15 of that you can see here we&;ve got a
8.15 brand new fuel line that I put on this
8.15 thing this runs all the way from the
8.15 tank
8.15 as you saw underneath and this one&;s all
8.15 the way up to the carburetor what you&;re
8.15 gonna see in just a second I&;d also like
8.15 to point out while we&;re over here that
8.15 we&;ve got brand-new lower radiator hose
8.15 that I put on this thing I did clean and
8.15 maintain the original clamps for this
8.15 you can see some of the new wiring that
8.15 we have in it we do have a little bit
8.15 more modern style a fan up front here of
8.15 course the motors painted up absolutely
8.15 beautifully I mean that this is kind of
8.15 a relatively hard find a hard color to
8.15 find the Chevy gray for these old
8.15 antiques moving this way I&;d like to
8.15 also point out before so I&;d like to say
8.15 we do still have points in this
8.15 distributor they&;re set it runs great we
8.15 have a brand new wiring all throughout
8.15 this car as I said i rewired this entire
8.15 automobile we have a maxi fuse here we
8.15 do have of course brand new cables going
8.15 up from the battery to the starter and
8.15 then from this up here to the the maxi
8.15 fuse and into the car and of course it&;s
8.15 got that&;s all you know on fuse it&;s got
8.15 a fuse block in there it all runs
8.15 through the amp gauge everything works
8.15 is you guys saw and I&;d also like to
8.15 point out to is when I went to go start
8.15 this thing up outside I&;m sure you saw
8.15 it notice that on the top of the valve
8.15 cover here you have these three little
8.15 uh little I guess it would be holes in
8.15 the valve cover here and that was meant
8.15 as air wash past it to almost be kind of
8.15 like a road draft tube in addition to
8.15 the road graph tube that&;s down there
8.15 I&;d like to point out that you didn&;t
8.15 really see any smoke coming out of those
8.15 which would it be an implication of blow
8.15 by this engine actually seems to be
8.15 extremely healthy as far as the top and
8.15 compression goes I mean it&;s I don&;t see
8.15 anything coming out of that didn&;t even
8.15 want to steam even which is a very
8.15 common for these things especially being
8.15 this old you know you would imagine it
8.15 to be worn out and this thing is just in
8.15 excellent shape and it runs fantastic
8.15 outside of that I think that&;s about all
8.15 we need to cover on this side of the
8.15 engine we&;re gonna go on over to the
8.15 other side and we&;ll show you the little
8.15 car door one barrel and all the goodies
8.15 that&;s over there all right guys on this
8.15 side of our stole bullet you can see
8.15 here we&;ve got a couple things to talk
8.15 about one of which being if we&;re gonna
8.15 start from the front back we have a
8.15 alternator upgrade on this this is a six
8.15 volt alternator negative ground positive
8.15 cable here now this is not something we
8.15 did this is something the previous owner
8.15 did and this thing charges rock-solid at
8.15 7 volts once again just upgrades to the
8.15 electrical system which in my opinion
8.15 was kind of the weaker one of the weaker
8.15 points
8.15 on these cars when they first came out
8.15 and of course it&;s all been updated to
8.15 the point of I would consider a pretty
8.15 high level of reliability underneath
8.15 that here&;s our horn here the old-style
8.15 Eagle horns I&;ve had this thing apart
8.15 I&;ve cleaned it oiled it adjusted it on
8.15 that works fantastic as you saw the rest
8.15 of the video if I didn&;t blow the the
8.15 cameras speaker out on that one
8.15 I guess backward of that you can see
8.15 we&;ve got our carter 1 barrel carburetor
8.15 this is the updraft model carburetor
8.15 which is correct for the year of the car
8.15 now this this carburetor here and this
8.15 set up on this engine this thing
8.15 produced if I&;m not mistaken 50
8.15 horsepower a whopping 50 horsepower at
8.15 2,600 rpm which for back in the day it&;s
8.15 actually a surprising amount of
8.15 horsepower considering the Model T and
8.15 the Model A I think the Model A at this
8.15 point which would have been out at this
8.15 time produced a 40 horsepower from not
8.15 mistaken so this was an upgrade from
8.15 that of course then again you had a two
8.15 more cylinders and actually Chevy slogan
8.15 back in the day was a six for the price
8.15 of four which is what you&;re kind of
8.15 getting here and this is that&;s kind of
8.15 that kind of embodies what we got going
8.15 on here and of course they lengthen the
8.15 whole chassis z&; of these things and all
8.15 this stuff to accommodate these bigger
8.15 engines moving backward from that you
8.15 can see we&;ve got an oil filter on this
8.15 I did change the oil in this engine when
8.15 I wouldn&;t did when I went and took this
8.15 car through its process of course you&;ve
8.15 got a wicks filter in here 1540 weight
8.15 oil change it&;s nice and clean dip
8.15 sticks right down here between this here
8.15 behind the carburetor it&;s right here to
8.15 be your gearbox here I greased that for
8.15 you guys along with the whole rest of
8.15 the car I&;d also like to point out you
8.15 can see here the rest of the wiring here
8.15 that the course is all been upgraded
8.15 brake light switch right there so on and
8.15 so forth the rest of the wiring harness
8.15 moves throughout the cars you&;re gonna
8.15 see or you have seen I should say
8.15 outside of that this thing is just a
8.15 wonderful example of an old antique
8.15 automobile I mean these things are
8.15 ingrained into American history as much
8.15 as you know a lot of things that we&;d
8.15 like to you know put into American
8.15 history I suppose you know from many
8.15 things from our old antique Brown basses
8.15 that you know people seem to talk about
8.15 with like the Civil War in the
8.15 Revolutionary War this this is I think
8.15 another section of American history that
8.15 isn&;t often talked about you know
8.15 people were driving these things from
8.15 one end of the country to the other
8.15 during the Great Depression near the
8.15 Dust Bowl all these kind of cars were
8.15 around so that all being said if you&;d
8.15 like to have this piece of American
8.15 history parked in your driveway and or
8.15 your garage give Tom a call at the
8.15 number below and let man guard motor so
8.15 Park this old Huskers in your driveway
8.15 you
